This is work in progress of an OpenGL remake of the classic Elite, its based on the fantastic re-engineered version by Christian Pinder whos website is at www.newkind.co.uk.

Update: 24th February 2002,
Version: 0.5
Done:
+ Fixed up galactic chart
+ Done options screen
+ Done settings screen
+ Finished Variable frame rate (game should work at pretty much the correct speed)
+ Left and right starfields working
+ Fixed equip ship screen
Todo:
- All those little bugs left
- Convert all geometry processing and rendering to proper 3D using OpenGL
Extras:
* Light objects properly (from sun or lasers)
* Rendering planets and suns as proper globes!
* Texture mapping

Well its pretty much done !, from here on its, bug fixes and taking the features beyond elite.

+ Partial Variable frame rate
+ Front and rear starfields working

- Implement load/save/options screens
- Fix side starfields
- Convert all geometry processing and rendering to proper 3D using OpenGL

Download: eliteGL_v0.01.zip. This is an early alpha release, just the beginnings !!!
Please Note: This is a very early version, I have been hacking it to pieces to just get something up and running, you'll need to have DirectXv7.0 installed which I use for keyboard input... otherwise any OpenGL accelerated graphics card will do.
