DYNAMIC LEAGUE Arcade tournament short report

The 17th February 2002, held the first Dynamic League tourney of the new year at CASINO!!. I arrived at Casino around 5:30pm with my good mate Colin and Nigel, to check out the latest gathering. I must say there was a very good turn out, the place was packed!! It was hard to get to a machine without bumping into other people especially the 3D fighter (Tekken, VF4) sections. Maybe a bigger, new venue next time?

The main games that were up for the tournament treatment were:

KOF 2000, KOF 98'
Virtual Fighter 4
Tekken Tag, Tekken 4
Marvel Vs Capcom 2
Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, SF Zero 3, SF 3
Guilty Gear X
Capcom Vs SNK
/ Capcom Vs SNK 2(Dreamcast)

Dynamic League Team:

Derrick Lynch
Issac Baptiste
Mark Denton
Anthony Awifowoshe
Steven Tu
David Lashley
Joe Marcello
Waidet Chan
Daniel Wilson
Gareth Pearce
Steve Tame
Michael Weeks-Quinn
Kole Ogun

The tournament officially started at 5pm so I sat back and watched the fun! Examples of characters used frequently at the KOF 2k machine were Kyo, Iori, clark, Lin, Jhun, Kula, Seth, Hinako, Mary, Leona and Takuma. My team consisted of Kyo, K', Terry (or Benimaru) and Seth as my striker. I performed very well (in my veiw)this tourney wining a few matches and giving the regular KOF Casino goers a very hard time!

Whip, Lin and Kim were the popular main fighters of this tournament racking up many wins in the process. I even saw an old school friend Jamie L blazing a path through many fighters with the team of Whip, Leona and Takuma ( I didn't know that whip was so effective - you can't get close to her!! ). An interesting thing happened in a few matches I saw...namely the non use of strikers. Some players decided not to use strikers in their matches calling them cheap and unfair!! Before the match starts they would use up all their striker stocks to fight in the classic 3 on 3 way....

All in all there were some very srategic, fast paced matches and all round friendly game-players. Congratulations gents!!

Tekken 4/Tag and VF4 also drew very large crowds and rightly so, with great matches and classic moments it was a blast!! Watching Tekken 4
matches were so funny!! the match with Steve V Kuma/Panda were great!! Kuma actually beat steve all 3 rounds with unblockable bear swing punches!! Powerful fighters used were Jin, Bryan and Kazua these two fighters are very hard to beat! I actually managed to summon up some courage and challenge some one. My friends were actually timing me on how quickly I was going to get beat!! Some friends huh?! I choose Jin as my fighter and I must admit to myself and everyone else's surprise that I perfromed quite well. I still lost though ^_^; ( only just may I add )

The star characters of VF4 were Kage Maru, Akira and wolf. The guy using Kage was very impressive achieving many wins in the process, but was eventually taken off with wolf to everyone rejoyce!

'EVILGUY' a very talented Zero/alpha 3 player impressed everyone as always, with his unbeatable Guy. He racked up 26+ wins,( I even once saw his rack up over 56 wins @_@ ) out playing many, if all players. Some very close matches in all.... good show guys ^_^
