STONE UNDERSTANDING
Dazzling sunlight scorches not
a thing around her
breezes neither carry so deep
a chill
scented pollen of the flowers
subdued, unconcerned
only reflect her soft curls,
her subtle upturns and depths
all remaining constant, all
a part of her charade.
on this flat rock she was given
understanding
a notion perpetuated in her
daily pause at the granite
somewhere in this crease between
her life and her love.
solitude welcomes her here,
its caress euphoric
leaving her cottage after sunrise
and breakfast
sends her man and son off to
field and school
for her passage far below to
the village errands
her return never along the same
road or path
nor the same meadow twice succeeding
but always hurrying to the same
stone
pouring all her energy into the
message
written overseas in a hand she
no longer can feel
sometimes long ago, sometimes
today.
his world unreal in her heart
her world unable to hold him
they share their love of the
day long ago
creating the son they could
never share
sharing a time they could never
repeat.
Her happiness never wanes
her letters will not cease being
written
No matter the time between his.
No matter she remembers not
his face.
There will always be his meadow
and stone
and the day of her understanding.

MIGRATION
Just above the tree line, where
the tundra fields begin
she sits among the wildflowers
feeling the wind's kiss on her skin.
Waiting for the miracle that
occurs this time each year
for with the coming freeze,
migrating south will be the deer.
Now she hears their footsteps,
a drumbeat old as time,
the herd passes by as they continue
their downhill climb.
Down to winter forage where
the weather is not so harsh
to live on bark and winter greens
found only in the marsh.
She counts the young ones and
greets the ones she knows.
She smiles as the buck assumes
a watchful pose.
With sad eyes she notes the
friends no longer present.
The hunter has made his mark,
a trophy his sole intent.
She knows that some will die
while the winter sky is gray,
the old and weak will perish
for that is natures way.
But in the spring, when the
sun's rays begin to shine,
the herd will pass this way
again, to vanish at the skyline.
Just above the tree line, where
the tundra fields begin
she sits among the wildflowers
feeling the wind's kiss on her skin.
Waiting for the miracle that
occurs this time each year
for with the coming summer,
migrating north will be the deer.

HEAVENS GATE
It was the coldest winter
that she had ever known
Not at the hand of nature
but because she endured it alone
Mercifully at last spring has
arrived
patiently she sits and waits
Where they pledged their eternal
love
here at heavens gate
With faith as solid as the mountains
and love as pure as the spring
air
Her eyes fixed upon the distant
horizon
she knows he will soon be there
A promise to come back to her
he will not be denied that vow
Not even the fires of hell
could keep him from her now
When that day finally arrives
their journey will have just
begun
For every fibre of their being
has melded into one
Deeper than the red
of the flowers here in bloom
Their undying devotion
will be rewarded soon
Gently as the flow of her silky
soft hair
They will walk life's path
with respect and tender care
Their love as constant
as the peaks covered in snow
Sweet as the aroma
of the pines in the valley below
They will fulfill each others
dreams
and share their complete happiness
Hold fast to one another
as they lovingly caress
There is no question in their
minds
if it was worth the wait
To honor the pledge that they
made
here at heavens gate

WAITING
I sit in reflection of a love
that was born
In this vision of beauty I silently
mourn
Waiting in anguish lost in my
pain
Wondering about love and what
did we gain
I sit in the meadow surrounded
by flowers
The essence is sweet as I sit
in my sorrows
The mountains are tall covered
in snow
Alone and forlorn as frigid
winds blow
I gaze in awe at wonders that
abound
Remembering the one with whom
love I have found
A sweetness, a richness, a gentle
soft soul
To be with my darling is my
only goal

DANCE IN THE FLOWERS
Among the flowers on the mountainside
each day is where I'll be
hoping to catch just a glimpse
of my love coming home to me.
Words of pain came spilling out
upon this very place
they pierced your heart and
took away
the smile that was on your face.
Now all that I do is reminisce
and hope your heart will forgive
I'd take it all back if only
I could
for without you I don't want
to live.
All those times we danced 'till
dusk
barefoot among the flowers
twirling and twisting our bodies
about
what seemed like minutes was
hours.
Remember the times we laid on
the ground
and gazed up into the sky
it seemed to me that you never
tired
of watching the eagles fly.
I still can see you standing
there
eyes glued to the snowy peaks
amazed at nature's work of art
a flush upon your cheeks.
Now all I can do is sit and wait
and wish that I had magic powers
I'd go back in time and make
things right
once again we'd dance in the
flowers.

THE WAITING
who am I, where am I
how did I get here, when did
I get here
head spinning what is this place
orderly and methodical, perfect
for the sonneteer
memories floating by, love
happiness, babies, career and
health
in my bed, in your arms, sweet
joy
riches comfort and splendor
not available through wealth
my bed now a mattress of flowers
pretty, comfortable, shall I
lay down
my love, you are here in my
mind and heart
this is a dream I am still in
my nightgown
staring straight ahead, don't
look back
I'm a mess look at my hair make-up
smeared
no slippers, jacket to bed,
strange
so much going on, what is to
be feared
flowers so bright so red so sweet
promising pleasure and gain
yes please when I awake lead
me on
free me from this confusion
and pain
rocks so close I can touch their
hardness
I can feel the unhappiness and
discord
please I don't want to go there
I am looking for a different
reward
hill behind me, I've reached
the top
surely this can be nothing but
good
be careful now don't look
don't lean back, so much to
be understood
trees, short and tall, pines
and yews, green
I've moved beyond the consummation
of the
hopes and desires that guide
our existence
am I searching for something
beyond conventionality
mountains, high steep rocky precipitous
I long to ascend the lofty heights
for the prizes
that abound at the pinnacles,
so many so much
waiting for me, each peak hiding
surprises
snow at the tops, please no snow
what of my longings and ambitions
I can never reach that apex
of my existence
woe is me, must I go on with
life's competitions
unforgiving desolation and loneliness
compassionate contentment and
hopefulness
all earthly emotions available
in one place
how do I contend with such dire
futileness
I wait to wake
the clock is still, I wait to
wake
frozen in place, I wait to wake
hot and cold, I wait to wake
how long here, seconds, days,
weeks, eons
time has no meaning in this
dominion
a stopping point a two dimensional
path
up or down, which will it be,
I long for your decision
mountains, trees, flowers, snow,
hills
do no exist without your consent
sensitivity and hatred both
in abundance
my soul, my eternal spirit awaits
in ambivalent torment

DREAM KNIGHT
many excursions brought me down
this path
as countryside forms images
of a castle adorned with watchtowers
surrounded by a moat
the drawbridge
unreachable
wildflowers monopolize my senses
with aromas
blending dreams and reality
today
I am not alone
in my presence
he stands
suited in armor
gazing back at me
fixated
stunned
can it be?
dare I reach to touch
to feel his presence
would mean too much
for all my life
my passions afford
is this real..
looking back and forth
he remains fixed
soft smile crosses his face
tears fill my eyes
faith shan't be erased....

REFLECTION
A woman torn and tattered
Pushed to the ground
Abused and battered
A looking glass with no reflection
Who is this lost soul?
No one sees, there's no detection
Eyes of blue so deep and hollow
Full of hurt, full of tears
Looking, seeing no tomorrow
A loving one she use to be
A wife, mother, sister, daughter
Now she balances on her knees
Looking up she hopes to find
But too many years passed
There's something lost left
behind
Hope is no more, none in sight
You disappeared in the shadows
of my tears
Left me with too may doubts
and so many fears.

STRENGTH
Mountains in the distance
serve as a reminder
of times she stood the victor
over trials now behind her.
Always from above,
her strength would slowly come.
Empowered by that love,
many battles she has won.
Resting deep in this valley,
other hills she's yet to climb,
tears eventually flow to the
sea
and peace reappears, sublime.
So she'll rise from this place,
and again stand strong,
with the sun on her face
find the place she belongs.

SHE WAITS
Winter comes onto the mountains
freezes all the lakes and fountains
the rest have left , they all
have flown
in silent woe she waits alone
The last red blooms of highland
vale
shall soon surrender to the
gale
her scant provisions now are
gone
in silent woe she waits alone
His promise was that he would
come
her heart a steady muffled drum
planned meeting at this very
stone
in silent woe she waits alone
She does not know his heart lies
cold
his body buried in the mould
the rose of love forever blown
in silent woe she waits alone
When they returned in early spring
her frozen corpse to rock did
cling
they buried her beside the stone
in silent woe she waits alone
Through summer warmth and winter
snow
the ages come the ages go
the seeds of love were truly
sown
and still she waits, but waits
alone
Sir_Sun©
VALOROUS ANTICIPATION
Her heart awaits the
multitude of his strength
His omnipresence forever
whispers her name.
Her posture she adjusts
as the valleys call her name
she is encompassed by
the thought of his amiable touch
against her face.
Her forbearance is
structured and taken in stride
fore the flowing knowledge
which he eternally expresses
is one made with pride
The blooming flowers
and the snow-covered peaks
bring a sense of tranquillity
to the depths that she seeks
He adores her dearly and
is aware of her strength
and with all of life's love
he brings her this peace.

CHANGES
A bright luscious garden
Spectacular screens of life
With a change of season
Spontaneous-Reconstruction.
The bright turns dark
Screens of life no more
Seeds beneath still live.
Weathering the winter storm
Until signs of rebirth
they will live again.
A bright luscious garden
For all to see
Astounding, the flowers
As fragile as the human soul
courageously we live.

I'll TAKE
LUST
passions touch is hands of ice
that chill me to the depth of my bones
while lusts grip is a fire that
always drives me to pleasurable moans
passion is the chain love uses
to hold feelings from roaming free
while lust is a door that stands
open so I can let my feelings be
passion dies with time and an
oh too familiar face that has grown old
while lust always burn bright
in the next arms and face of whom I hold
fading passions makes you feel
older than you thought you could be
while lust always pushes you
to youthful actions you thought never to see
and while emotions may burn
bright in the oh so caring heart of friends
They burn twice as bright when
emotions candle as lust burns from both ends
Passion may move mountains when
ridden the first few times in the saddle
But in the grasp of lust the
whole world will feel like it did rattle
Still in a sexual stupor she
couldn't believe it but believe she must
If what she had just felt was
the difference she said "I'll take lust"

ECHOES
Isolate in this field of solace
She tarries in meadows of crimson
Awaiting the return of echoes
Lingering to hear
Laughter from the cabin
High in the mountains
A chilled breeze engulfs
Her deepest roots
What path had brought her
Back to this place of harmony
She turns her back to the ridges
And reflects the mimics
Of yesteryear.

THE COMING OF FALL
Here I sit among the flowers
Counting down the remaining
hours
That their beauty has left to
behold
Before the wind turns bitterly
cold
Soon snow will blanket them
from sight
Blocking out the life-giving
light
The flowers will wilt and die
away
I shall cry tears of sadness
that day
For the flowers remind me of
My once strong and growing love
It turned cold and died you
see
Never to come back to me
But I know with the coming of
Spring
The sun will shine and birds
will sing
These flowers that I sit among
Will once again from the ground
be sprung
To grow proud and strong upon
this hill
For coldness cannot destroy
their will
Their beauty shall shine for
all to see
Sitting among the flowers is
where I'll be

FOOLISH DREAMS
Distant vistas beguile and seduce
your mind
Giving an intoxicated patience
of a dangerous kind
Staring and wanting and wishing
for tomorrow
Your heart leaks red emotion
and purple sorrow
But time is an impatient and
ruthless master
And urgent needs make your pulse
beat faster
Bound and tied by some foolish
reason
Expecting paradise with each
passing season
While your heart and soul rot
and waste
Wrinkles draw and carve with
bitter haste
Abandon this reserve of fantasy
and lie
Bind up your dreams and tears
that cry
With urgent purpose and will
of steel
Grind you worries under your
quickening heel
Forsake someday and a remote
sometime
For Adventure and Love are ready
this time
Then sleep each night fulfilled
and content
And wonder at the pleasure Life
has sent
Let the wind call your name
each day
And tell you secrets that show
you the way
Cheat death and sorrow with life's
bouquet
Don't wait for something far
and gray
Pick your roses along the way
And never tarry even some
For tomorrow may never come

DREAMS THAT WAIT
Cloaked by a coverlet of new
fallen snow
against a backdrop of cold realism
Pristine softness belies its
harshness
of one who dreams silently,
distant in thought
The dream though silent, seems
to echo
over the snowcapped mountain
tops
Falling gentle upon fertile
ground
where the promise waits amidst
the wild crocus
For the love of the faithful
gives hope

DRIFTER'S HILL
Leaving the moon, to welcome
in the sun.
She focuses on the morning of
having fun.
In a field of little reds, A
thought taunts with care.
She sits and waits while a breeze
of wind penetrates her hair.
She's new to this one although
she thinks.
A sheet of paper is release
without ink.

GUIDANCE
She journeyed to this mountain
plain
which called her in the early
light of day
Now she sits and contemplates
as to what has brought her here,
was it the need for tranquility,
here she feels closeness to
God.
As she looks about her,
seeing the glory that abounds
around her,
his presence she can physically
see,
although she’d never doubted.
She searches deep and speaks
to him,
of all that troubles her minuscule
heart,
quietly whispers her prayer
for guidance,
hoping to hear the answers within
her soul.
She feels the wind rise,
brushes against her gently,
now feeling suddenly an
inner peace surrounds herself.

UNTITLED
On a bed of flowers she sits
The breeze gently tousles her
hair
Does it carry away her sorrow?
or fan a feeling of despair?
What longings are in her heart?
Secret wishes that silently
call
What hurt does she carry so
close?
Do the mountains help make her
feel small?
It seems , to me, she waits
As do we all to hear
The echo of our hearts
That sound to calm our fear.

UNTITLED
You placed my body gently here
upon your hillside
I saw the beauty and it overwhelmed
my eyes' sight
I sat here and heard you whisper
to my heart
Felt your comfort in the wind
and my pain depart
Love consumes the smallest flower
I see
How much more does your love
consume me
Mighty mountains inferior now
For I turned and looked upon
the simple truth of how
The sun rose over the horizon
and only God knows...
It shined right through all
I am
Melting the snow on the mountains
of my past
bringing light to the darkness
that once left me blinded.. and rash
A seemingly waitful look upon
my face?
Here is where my waiting soul
found grace...
This Body...

A WHISPER IN THE
WIND
Memories invade her days,
as she sits pondering
summers filled with giggles,
and dreams drifting in the wind.
The flowers were always special,
revealing the beauty,
that two hands could nurture
through an act of love...
petals carried in the wind.
Words not often spoken,
but a bond exists there,
between that old sweet woman
and her aching heart inside...
nurtured by the wind.
The hair blows over her face,
it can't be time to forget,
impossible to move on,
she's still waiting...
for that whisper in the wind.
Miles separated their souls,
A last farewell she would not
give,
except the one she sent...
on the wings of the wind.
The reply has not yet come,
but in due time it will,
a soul will be at peace...
among the beauty of the wind.

CHERISHED MEMORIES
Up in the mountains before it
turns cold
Memories of the past her mind
unfolds
Tulips surround her in different
shades of red
Remembering her father who is
now dead
Sitting on the rocks, their
edges jagged
Remembering how on her he often
bragged
Recalling the hikes they took
through the hills
Just spending time together
how good it would feel
Memories of their cabin up by
the lake
I wish he was with me for my
sanity's sake
His experiences of life he tried
to tell me
I was young and stupid, too
blind to see
I wish you was with me, I'm
no longer into fads
I wish you could hear me say...."I'm
sorry DAD"
Sorry for times I kept you awake
But these cherished memories
no one can take
Cherished memories that you
and I shared
I realize now just how much
you cared
To make me aware of the troubles
of life
And to always remember The Son.....Jesus
Christ

HER ROCK
This was her rock no one else
could have it or
Understand just how important
This rock was to her
It was solid and steady
It was warm
It had character
This rock it held all her secrets
and desires
For she came to this place ,
this rock and
She confessed everything to
it
She told her rock of her hurts
and her tears
Of her pain and disappointments
Most of all she told the rock
of her love
For her special man her special
lover
For she compared her lover to
the rock
All the good qualities the rock
had
Her lover had strong durable
Rugged Unmovable Sturdy
His eyes held such promise and
adoration
Her lover had character and
was
Deeply committed to her
So today she had come to her
rock
To ask if it was ok if she gave
all her secrets
To the man she calls lover and
was so deeply in love with
And as she asked the sunshine
broke through the clouds
Bathing her in warmth and light
and she knew
The answer was a resounding
yes
You have chosen wisely
