WHY BURN IT TO AN ASHLEY
DUST
As the evening awakes its final
glow,
the moon is clearly shown.
Highlighting tree tops so high
they stand,
So awesomely mWHY BURN IT TO
AN ASHLEY DUST
ajestically so grand.
With the screeching of the owls,
and the wolves as they howl,
This forest so rich of life.
While the birds find their nest,
and the bears now can rest,
Together in the woods at night.
Now a change was to be,
on this night in the breeze.
It halted the survival of all.
This evening in the trees,
a tragedy changed the leaves,
And the grass and all that crawled.
A campfire was spotted and a
flame enlightened,
within minutes devastation was
clear.
Two elks were near by then decided
to stride,
towards a river in total fear.
Within moments this fire was
reaching much higher,
climbing the pines with speed.
The bears and the birds and
the wolves can be heard,
while racing to the river to
be.
Some first do arrive and together
they hide,
two elks in the water they stood.
Such burning of the grounds
and screeching of sounds,
they must survive but without
any food.
As the time slowly passed,
while the woods showed this
mask,
of the flames covering the earth.
Only few have lived on,
the stronger gave sounds,
Of anger of this evil flamed
birth.
Why must all this end.
Why must all this die.
Why man caused this sin.
Why create such a crime.
If we treat the woods like our
homes if we could,
no litter would lay upon her.
If we are careful of the fires
in campgrounds within there,
the animals will not loose no
fur.
So remember we're a guest when
entering this nest,
that nature so humbly gives
us.
Please be gentle with this shrine
then nature will be fine,
Why burn it to an ashley dust.

careless humans so unaware
leaving woodland creatures without

NO ESCAPE
The smell of fear
fate determined
fire is spreading
God is near.
Eternally in heaven
for mistakes of man
the animals died
yet all is forgiven.
Flowing with winds
seeds start anew
forest rebuilt
new life He sends.
Years have passed
life circle grows
conditions dry
too good to last.
Unfortunate day
mother nature burns
there's no escape
swift death I pray.
God's hand is here
time moves on
for loss of life
I shed His tear.

A LIVING THING
A tiny, flickering candle flame
brings comfort in the night.
A fire in a fireplace
with gentle warmth invites.
Lapping 'round the logs,
trapped safe behind the grates,
In reddish orange splendor,
patiently she waits.
Enjoy the pleasant warmth she
brings,
But remember, fire's a living
thing.
Once freed, she feeds with gluttony,
uncaring and unheeding,
In wanton fury growing,
omnivorously feeding.
Winds born of convection
defy the night-time chill,
As swiftly she ascends another
hill,
Declaring in a roar of demon
wings,
"Fire's a living thing"
Convoluted shapes and shades,
Dance within her eerie glow.
Here and there a burst of light,
as another cedar goes.
Twisting, turning, burning,
her raw beauty grows and feeds.
Then as sparks fall on pre-heated
leaves
-- she breeds.
In the hiss of steaming tree
sap hear her sing,
"I am fire -- a living thing."
With flaming tongues of dragon
breath, consuming
all that's in her path, 'til
nothing can survive.
In pungent, acrid devastation,
eventually she dies.
But nature keeps a balance
as she protects her own.
Out of sheltered valleys
and caves where they have flown,
Silent and resilient,
life steps forth from mountain
streams
Triumphant, for they too are
living things.

Smoky the Bear
and firefighters everywhere.)

A JUNGLE FIRE
derailed on a
wilderness ride
gazelles are
wide-eyed
trapped
in wild fire
leaping flames
fanned by
alluring
peacock sighs
the jungle
roars hungrily
and sizzles
with the fall
of gazelle tears
dropped in fear
and uncertainty
held inside
derailed on a
wilderness ride
caught
in a jungle fire

NATURES LAW
Forces of nature, mighty their
power
Even the wild sometimes shiver
and cower
Devastating their home, flames
spreading fast
Merely to survive, their major
task
Where should they run, where
shall they go
Flames all around them, the
skies are aglow
The forest is ablaze, there's
fire all around
Survival their goal, cool waters
they've found
Two elk in the river, now all
alone
Will the young survive, ever
be grown
The flames will go out, new growth
will appear
'Til lightning again, ignites
it next year
Regardless the species, the weakest
will die
Law of Nature, only the strongest
survive

GOLDEN SKY
Sunrise was never so brilliant
close or intensely hot
the silence of morning
or is it night
Rudely awakened
to popping noises
and the crackle
of wood being
devoured
by flames
Flames and heat
rising from the earth
and the horizon
becomes engulfed
in tragedy
All manner of life
runs for cover
Some are overtaken
trapped, with no
retreat from
death
The bull takes the lead
as though to whisper
"follow me"
Instinctively
the river becomes
a passage to life
Soothing their hooves
charred and tender
In their fright
they take flight
run for their lives
against an angry
golden sky.

ARROW OF HUNT
Allow me to turn inward,
as the path set before me narrows
surrounded by the elements Earth,
wind, and fire
in such sorrows
God of wisdom give to me this
day internal strength.
Strength
to stand here amongst such nature
and bare testimony.
fourth and foremost bless the
great hunter,
whom before this day
has laid to rest so many of
my kind.
Bless over their long hunts
cold journeys.
For when they returned home
with such gifts
such prize trophies,
They did so with honor and integrity
Being spared the arrow of hunt
now I asked of you dear lord
I shall never be surrounded
by laughter, joy,
and tall tales
the burning fires that surround
us
leave us no way to escape
so allow the fires to come quick.
Allow me eternal rest within
your grace and remember...
God Bless the Great Hunter.

THE BEAST
The Beast has risen from its
slumber
Spreading forth its hungry flame
Consuming all in mindless fury
Giving death, it takes no blame
Licking flesh from living bones
Unrestrained and running free
Enlarging uncontrolled it rages
Little hearts in panic flee
In desperation, seeking refuge
A shallow stream they find and
wait
Watching as the beast approaches
Searing heat secures their fate

Mountains of wood

THE SACRIFICE
This fiery beast threatens our
lives
Once again we must struggle
to survive
First hunted by man as we roam
the earth
Doesn't our life have any worth?
When will the games of man end?
Why can't humans comprehend?
That we are mere creatures on
this land
Struggling to survive as God
planned
Cornered and feeling completely
alone
Wishing our home were made of
stone
Could nothing penetrate it then?
I fear we will never be safe
again
So I shed a tear for man today
In hopes that he will find his
way
More tears I shed for you and
me
And for our friends that death
will see
So while we bide our time and
pray
And wait for God to light our
way
We know we must pay the price
This time our lives are the
sacrifice

I AM THE FIRE
I am the fire
The fire that you seek
The passion and the desire
The desire that you keep
The more you try to hold me
The more I will burn
I need to be free
Free so that I can burn
I am the life
The life of the fire
The passion and the strife
Yet I always take you higher
The more you deny me
The more I will yearn
I need to be free
Free so that I can yearn
I am the smoke
The smoke from the fire
The passion that you stoke
The reason you never tire
The less that you try
The less I will learn
I need to free
Free so I can learn
I am the keeper
The keeper of the fire
The passion and the sleeper
All that you admire
You need to accept me
You need to burn
You need to be free
Free so you can burn

FLAMES OF WRATH
Flames of Wrath it is written
I will send to you
In a bolt of lightning out of
the blue
But why should it have to end
this way?
All I ask is for you to PRAY...
Oh Adam, Oh Eve...why was it
Me you tried to deceive
When all I ever wanted was for
you both to live
In my beautiful and precious
Garden of Eden
With exotic fruits, birds and
flowers in season...
But you chose to live, as life
was never meant
Too late, you hear the cries
of Mother Earth in her final torment
Oh how my heart bleeds for you
and feels heavy
With the pain of your sins and
there are many...
My dear children Oh why? Oh why?
Oh why?
Have I still to endure your
tormented hearts that cry
Because man has set himself
upon a seemingly endless path
PRAY hard that I may save you
from this luciferous wrath...

GOD'S PLAN
A curtain of fire enveloping
trees
Searing beauty from all the
leaves
Wee forest creatures scurried
away
Perhaps to return on another
day.
Elk are taking a solid stand
Watching as flames devour their
land
Someday this scorched earth
shall be
Budding with new life and once
again free
Nature is cruel and makes its
claim
However this great earth remains
the same!

BURNING HEARTS
Standing together we silently
await our fate
Our humble existence, threatened
by raging fire
Forces of nature unleashed,
our safety betrayed
I try hard not to think about
what might transpire
A tiny flame has now become a
pariah
It's only ambition, a path of
destruction
To feed its hunger, its solitary
desire
Wildlife and nature fall prey
to its abduction
In shallow waters, temporary
refuge we seek
Our only goal being survival
at all cost
This blazing inferno its havoc
continues to reek
Spreading wildly, how long before
all is lost
Whatever the outcome, with you
I shall remain
Together for life, till death
us do part
If we are to perish, it will
not be in vain
For I have been blessed with
love from the heart

GREENER PASTURES
Do the fires of hell
follow in our days
in the stream of life
as we part ways
Does time flow on
a steady stream
to wash away
our failed dream
and are my pastures
greener here
than those you've found
over there
May the fires of hell
burn each bit
of which we had
erasing it

FIRE SKY
I dreamt the sky was on fire
It burned with a Hadean glow
It turned the land to smoky
ash
Where trees once did grow
The river could not stop it
Though winding, wide and broad
The only thing that could breach
it
'Twas the very hand of God
I closed my eyes so tight
I shed a little tear
For homes that had been lost
And the danger that was near
The fire swept on by
Razing banks along the stream
The forest animals fled
The fire sky in my dream

NATURES PATH
Fire sparked in wonderment
catches hold
leaping from bough to bough
ever pressed
by the winds of intrigue
Uncharted hillside licked up
seconds, minutes, hours
time has no meaning
smoked with wild abandon
Who dares douse such a flame
stand aside
or be consumed by the heat
reduced to a pile of ash in
the fury.

HIDDEN THOUGHTS
A beautiful picture has so much
to tell.
Disquised by the flame, this
home became hell.
We all know who's responsible
for such fate.
Of course, being human, we are
always to late.
It's always the animals that
suffer and die.
They need very little in this
world to get by.
They strive for their homes
and food to eat.
Now because of this fire they
are faced with defeat.
So when you look at this picture,
look beyond the flame.
Think of the innocent animals
and regret that we are to blame.

ZIPO
Now Zipo wanted better things,
and dreamed of what might be
and if his time should come
to pass, he'd shine for all to see
So when they flipped him open,
he stood ready for his cue
and lighted first time every
time as he knew that he must do
In warm and fluffy waistcoats,
and jackets frayed and worn
he shared his life with key
rings and bus tickets old and torn
And so the days passed by him,
as he dreamed of pockets new
until the Blue Jeans took a
trip and Zipo traveled too
And then at last in palm of hand,
he saw the trees and sky
but the piled up sticks and
brushwood were what really caught his eye
So he would light a campfire,
he puffed up his wick in pride
and waited for his wheel to
turn against the flint that lay beside
But though he tried his hardest,
he could not summon up a flame
he was flicked and slapped and
shaken but nothing fiery came
Zipo gulped back his tears, as
he was cast up into the air
thrown away forever, the fate
of lighters everywhere
Bumped and bruised and battered
he landed on the ground
at last his wick was glowing
as the dry leaves gathered round
He tried with all the might he
had, to turn the glow into a flame
laying here amongst these strangers
he had to clear his name
The leaves then watched in wonder,
as at last the flame burned bright
they bent down close and stroked
it and passed it left and right
Zipo let his pride beamed out,
as his small light grew into fire
it was what he had been made
for, it was is hearts desire
But soon the flames grew higher,
and climbed into the trees
hopping all around and up, like
naughty crackling fleas
Zipo knew that this was wrong,
and tried to quote the law
but now they had his power and
light, they didn't need him more
He screamed that one must not
play with fire, and that one must have a care
but the all flames just laughed
at him and jumped from here to there
At last in swirling flames and
smoke poor Zipo met his fate
he'd shared his light too easily
but he found out much too late
P.S.
In each there is a little spark,
one light that burns within
be careful how you share it,
and where you let Your fire begin

LESSONS OF LIFE
Take heed Son of Mine ....of
the warnings,
Whispered in the voices of Medicine
Man's smoke.
Listen to the Brother Friend
of feathers....for He is wise.
All telling prophecies of the
Man of the Iron Horse.
This land seen and far past the
horizons .....it be sacred
A gift given by the God of the
Skies.
To Man of many colors....
To all Creatures of Life united
and share as One.
My Son I look upon You now and
see One fawning
Yet deep inside beats the heart
of an Antlered One.
Look before You ..... a vision
so grave......
Listen to the cries of Ancestors
of long ago....hear their pain.
Our world around Us now in flames
....being devoured by
the hungry Demon of fire.
The Man Who rides Iron Horses
.....has brought this upon Us all.
The MOST fierce Brother NOW
cowering ....and no longer can the innocent hide.
My Son I show this angry Demon
of Fire ....it is a match to No One.
We All must leave Our haven
of meadows .....how far You ask My Son?
Maybe to the ends of the Earth
We shall All travel.
Hoping to escape the seething
flames.
Quickly now..... one last look
at Your Home as a little One.
Etch deep in memories the joyous
ventures We All shared.
Force Your gaze upon the ravenous
flames of the Demon.
May it be Your first and the
last of Your Ancestor's to come.
Now We must gather Our thoughts.
My Son now I Am depending on
Your help with the weaker One's....
Not a moment to loose .....all
United now ....We MUST flee.
Yet NEVER forget the selfish
nature of the Man of the Iron Horse.
