I know a young lady
I think she's sweet as pie,
she hasn't finished counting
all the stars up in the sky,
but maybe someday she will
just as her time passes by,
but not before the tears
have fallen from her eyes.

There is always too much pain
tugging on her fading heart,
she's so busy waiting
for her greying clouds to part,
she has no friends to care
when her rain starts to fall,
she wonders all the time
if life's worth living at all.

Well you know this lady
I feel she's much too young,
she has a special song
in her heart yet to be sung,
and when her skies turn dark
and her evening comes,
you know she'll be out counting
the stars as she's always done.

There's too many naked truths
that turned into out right lies,
and too many of her days
that have turned to lonely nights,
nothing ever seems to work
no matter how she tries,
and no matter what she does
she'll never make it right.

When her world is crashing down
she won't think to question why,
she'll have pity on her soul
and take time out to cry,
but she'll still be out counting
all the stars up in the sky,
when all she can count on
are tears falling from her eyes.

I wondered where you were at that time
wishing I could see thru your eyes

hiding me from my own view
Yet you could see what I could not

There are so many, many stars out tonight
Which one will I pick to make things right?

They dance and twinkle in their night of play
With the coming of the sun, they'll be on their way.

If only one little star could see the other side of me
And guide me to the mornin' light, oh how happy I would be.

Some times I see they cry like me, and fall unto the ground
With no one caring, and being very careful not to make a sound.

If I were ever so lucky, to find a few of these fallen crystal tears
I would very gently pick them up, and keep them for the rest of my years.

By holding these shining little stars, they will show me how to glow
But there will be only one, that will say
"I knew you could do it and I told you so".

From here the world looks so small
From here I can see the truth of it all
We think that we are so great
That the whole world will stop if we are late
But in reality that is hardly true
A lot of the things that we do
Seem to have no baring on the world
Especially the actions of a little boy or girl
It all seems so trivial today
And our world seems enormously small this way
Always grasping for something more
But all we could ever want is just beyond that door
All these little tiny things
The grass, the flowers, the birds with wings
As single individuals their meaning is none
But as a whole many things can be done
Arms are useless without hands
But few seem to understand
That every living thing in this world
Every single boy and girl
Has their purpose in this life
And all we seem to do is added extra strife
We need to take care of ourselves
But we need to watch other's health
To only look out for our own well being
Is going to amount to nothing
It is all these things around us
That allow us to carry on as we must
A kind word, a gentle touch
It may not seem like all that much
But in a world that is so small
We're doomed if we can't see the truth of it all

Here, here my child what is it that makes you cry so
Stop or you will fill the heavens with stars, don't you know
Do you see all the points of light in the night time sky
That is what happens to all of our tears as time goes by
Keep that up the nights sky will be full and as bright as day
Then tomorrow's tears, well they will have nowhere to stay
You see the three stars over there that seem to be all alone
Three sisters tears from when a fire took away their home
And that blue one that seems to blink, right over your head
That is my tears from when I learned your grandfather was dead
There are many great losses that mark our tears in the night
To fill the heavens with a scrapped knee does that seem right
So dry your eyes my child and weep you not any more
And us try to smile even though I know your knee is sore
