SEEKING

Gnarled limbs
shrouded
grey mist
cold.

Child
lost
ebony night
alone.

Mother
seeking
darkened soul
fear

THE PRICE WE PAY

A woman covers her face in shame
Yet she cannot be held to blame
For in her innocence she did not know
Just how fast the seed would grow
A taste of knowledge, innocence lost
Being human has a cost
Now for knowledge, there is a thirst
Some may think that we've been cursed
Though knowledge is demanding
With it comes understanding
And in that understanding lies
A sight that goes beyond the eyes
For it is felt deep within
Empathy is not a sin
The price we pay for innocence lost
Is it not worth the cost?

SELF

Self...
uncover now your eyes
feel me deep inside.

You can not hide from me
or offer up disguise
we are one and the same
release your fears and fly.

Trust your inner feelings
feel your strength within
our footsteps will be guided
our journey will begin.

Listen to our heart
be guided by our mind
truths will be revealed
as we dance through time.

Self...
uncover now your eyes
spread your wings and fly.

LAMENT FOR THE LOST

Mother Earth watches
As her children
Rise from the roots
Of her creation
Her heart heavy
With sadness
As her children lament
Over the destruction
Wrought by humankind
As dawn breaks
And her children
Melt into their beds
Mother Earth surveys
The ravages left in their wake
And weeps.

VOICES

The sky turned gray
No stars or moon
Not on this night
Standing on a mound of land
Next to the great apple tree
Taller than most
More beautiful than any I've seen
Certainly it bares delicious fruit
In comparison
I feel so small and worthless
Covering my eyes in shame
the tears start to fall
A voice rings through the air
I know not from where it came
But it spoke to me
"Take a good look at this tree
See how it slants
While you stand tall
See how it's leaves have turned dark
While you remain full of life
No need to be ashamed
you are just as beautiful and important
As any apple tree
Now lift your head and pick one of these"
Doing as I was told
I bit into it's rotten fruit
Before disappearing
The voice said one last thing
"Things are not always as they seem"

JOURNEY WITHIN

Spiritual beings of light, projected into the earth
Seeking to experience, adventure and rebirth
What is it that is hidden in the minds of old souls
Is it possible to know as the new millenium tolls
Separation we have made, a part of our reality
Was this our goal when we projected into materiality
Or was it the result, when universal forces together came
Either way, we are sure to never be the same
Have you ever wondered about the meaning of life
Why there is so much chaos, pain and strife
What exactly is it that was born into consciousness
The patterns we see at the root of mankind's unhappiness
Great changes in life, all designed to facilitate
Presenting to us more than enough to contemplate
The mask we show the world is only a place to hide
From the ever growing turmoil, deep inside
Why is it that every spirit, yearns to be free
Yet, continues to cling to the bondage held in thee
Do we not live in a vast sea of loving energy
And where within this can we find our own divinity

LAST DAY OF EDEN

In the shade of wisdom's tree sat I and she
To the world anew were all things that be
She called me Adam and I called her Eve
How was I to know of me she would deceive
Sweet was the fruit from the forbidden tree
But bitter was the effect that it had on me
Now I know I stand naked before the world
And the nature of its impact is now unfurled
For it was then he made his presence known
Now that the seeds of wisdom have been sown
From the sky he looked down on our naked skin
And knew we had committed an unforgivable sin
Somber his face as out from Eden we were cast
While painful was my sight of Eden at the last
By the tree bathed in light, Eve in naked splendor
And the sky bound face of my God forever to remember

TRANSITION

This is the land of in-between
not reality and yet not dream.
For journeying souls pass by this way
but not a one has come to stay.

The eagle perched upon his bough
keeps vigil for the lost souls now.
With total knowledge and eyes so keen
each in their passing by him is seen.

This is the land where pain is erased
where one may view the obstacles one faced.
Remembered dreams now turn to truth.
nothing to gain and nothing to lose.

An ending and beginning found
a different plane's existence
No will to choose a course or path
this is the land's insistence.

From here they travel to the light
free from earthly needs
caretakers of the greatest truth
for all eternity.

IN ANOTHER LAND

Listen my friends, a story I'll tell
Of a long lovely visit, a journey unplanned,
an everlasting voyage to a strange other land.

Myriads of people walking alone.
Where do they come from; why do they roam?
I noticed a lone man, his feet planted still.
I queried he why, he answered me softly
his voice like a chill.
"I and the others are trembling and scared.
Each step that we take , the ground it does shake".

He turned to me slowly, his voice like a vow
"I've answered your question , please answer mine now.

Why sir, are your eyes so bright and so clear
where mine and the others, so full of fear?
I've only seen one with eyes such as yours
A fair lovely maiden with butterfly wings.

How do you dance when we barely can walk?
Come on dear sir, tell me , please talk."

I asked him her name, he spoke to me thus
He said it was LinDoug

I said It was us.

You've only met one sir, we've felt that earth move
The trembling, the shaking that all of you fear
Is a lovely experience when shared with one dear
Holding and loving in the land of the lost
sometimes a huge price
but well worth the cost.

WHERE ANIMALS SPEAK

In another land where animals speak
The eagle opens its powerful beak
Cloaked in a haze this land is free
Of manmade hate and misery
Veiled by the vines of time
Locked away as if a crime
This world is seen by but a few
While the rest have not a clue
To hear what the animals have to say
You must listen in a special way
Walk with nature hand in hand
Allow your thoughts to not be banned
With an open heart and mind
You'll be surprised at what you find
When you see what inward lies
Behind an animal's soulful eyes
You will know the truth, at last
About this world and its past
For the animals are here, you see
To guide our spirits and set them free
So treat the animals with love and care
Their gift to us is something rare
Next time when an animal calls
Let down those manmade walls
Invite the animal's voice inside
Find a new friend in which to confide

ENCHANTED FOREST

From the enchanted forest
Comes the cry of an eagle
As it sits upon the branch
Of a tree that twists and turns
Awaking all that lives there
The gnomes who take shelter
Within the enchanted trees
The fairies that hide amid the fallen leaves
Until the eagle cries
Signaling that man is gone
Now they can run and play again
In their lovely land
Playing hide and go seek
Amongst themselves
Laughing merrily all through the day
Until the eagle cries once more
As night begins to fall
To tell them that it's no longer safe
Into hiding they must go
Hidden from man's first glance
All that he sees is dead
But they are there
If you just look closely
As the grass and branches sway
With the winds gentle breeze
For an instant they are uncovered
But for now they remain hidden
They will come out again
Because this is their world
Adding a bit of magic
To this dead but enchanted forest

WINDOW IN MY MIND

While searching for a misplaced thought I could not find
I found myself at a strange unopened window in my mind
Like through the looking glass this window to another land
Reflecting an image of savagery too cruel for me to stand
Fear I now this new found darkness hiding inside of me
Safely locked away yet I know not what will act as key
Then open the window in my mind to free the savage beast
Not knowing the outcome to me should it ever be released
Thin this pane of mental glass restraining the anger and rage
Now and forever must I keep this thought in its mental cage
But would I be more than I am should it ever be incorporated
Trapped inside I will never know maybe it should be liberated
Just think of all the possibilities that might be awaiting me
The power the passion the pleasures that I have yet to see
How could I have ever thought myself a beast locked within
When the monster was holding me trapped but never again
