KNIGHT VISIONS

He went in search of the Holy Grail
to free this land from it's unholy hell
His king lay dying, as was the land
None would live without the cup in his hand
So he ventured into the land so dark
The view of this country was harsh and stark
Sin and corruption had taken the lead
over virtue, until there was nothing but greed
The minions of Satan stood by the road
to tempt him with riches, to lighten his load
He heeded them not as he raced at great speed
to find the cup so that we could be freed
from death and temptation that drowned us all
to the point where no one could hear God's call
So onward he strove to find this cup
His faith in the Lord would not let him give up
And tho he was protected by his God and his armor
he was enticed to his death by that witch of a charmer
And as he hung gasping with his last bit of breath
that Cup of Life appeared near his death
And as he reached out to take a hold
his life was revived, and his story was told
down thru the centuries, to this very day
to remind us to never give up as we pray
For the fate of all men lay within our soul
for without God in our lives, we're only part of a whole

LOVE OF A KNIGHT

You called me your queen and kissed my hand;
never was there such a gentle man.
With caring ways, you won my heart
and swore we two would never part.

By day you fought your battles brave;
to each new venture your best you gave.
Always with a smile for all;
always heeding each man’s call.

As sun slid down behind the hills,
a candle on my windowsill
guided you back to your lady fair,
with open arms you’d find me there.

We reveled in our world of love,
as moonlight shown down from above.
The whole world would disappear,
as only one voice we each did hear.

With kisses sweet and soft caress;
with every sense our love expressed.
Hoping night would linger on,
for our eternal lovers’ song.

GUARDIANS

Autumn wraps the world in death
another year passes.
In this place of barren waste
a quest begins.
The ageless knight
strong and sure in his purpose.
The faithful hound
following the scent of past battles.
Fear not the demon
for looks can be deceiving.
The journey shall be arduous
yet they don't look back.
The stronghold they call home
disappears in the distance.
When next they walk
upon the cobblestones
victory will be theirs.

FEARLESS STIRRED

upon his beliefs, he rides
his mighty steed, with fearless strides
he wages a crusade, with a crucifix of valor
defeating demoniac war lords
beneath his convictions of righteousness
his armor encrusted with bile blood
the evil within decaying fears
he rides over their congested bones
...with fearless strides

upon his beliefs, he rides
this ancient warrior, gripping justice
as his right of vengeance
with a swift blow, he impales his fears
with his weapon of damnation
the lance of God's final judgment
he vanquishes the demon war lords
that haunts his castle of sanctuary

upon our beliefs, we ride
our steeds turned to steel
confronting the same ancient wars
demon lords, lurking to take our souls
landscapes they may differ, thus the same
brave the valor of souls, before thy birth
take hold of this warrior's lance
his battle still wages, thus this day
....with fearless strides...... we ride.

THE FALLEN HERO

Foolhardy
A fallen hero
Stranded in a foreign land
Rides on
In search of triumph and victory
Beasts and demons
He has faced time after time
Walking away with their blood
Upon his trusty spear
Now threaten his very existence
Fallen soldiers
Who wore the code of honor
Taunt him with their losses
Seeing the remains
Of ones ten times as strong as he
Even his faithful partner
Who has accompanied him
Time and time again
Grows weary
Struggling just to stand
He keeps his eyes focused
On the reigns
That will lead him on his journey
Back to from where he first came
And can be a hero once more
The sand falls
In the hour glass
He keeps it in eye view
But can not look at it
Knowing that he is not brave
But merely
Foolhardy
A fallen hero
Risking it all on a dream
And a vision, of a castle

THE LAST RIDE OF DON QUIXOTE

His armour tarnished,
A rusted sword clenched in his hands,
He makes his final journey home.
The old man has returned from the forest.
No more, the blazing of tangled hooves.
No more, tilting at windmills.
This frail being was once a shining knight and
Guardian of dreams yet fulfilled.
With his trusted companion, Sancho Panza,
Now a deathlike creature, still by his side.
They make their way through the remnants of
Those mighty warriors, fallen long before.
Gone is the dream.
For Dulcinea too has perished
On the heels on time.
He holds her memory close to his heart.
It is here his story ends.
And serves as a stark reminder that
Love, life and time takes it's toll
On us all.

FAIRY TALE GRAVEYARD

Guarded by the knight in shining armour now dull and aged with time
Rests the characters of ancient nursery rhyme
The King's jester has been cast aside
No longer does his face reflect the smile that was once inside
A tired dog runs to keep up with the horse
Far too old to run off with a spoon of course
The castle stands forgotten and neglected on the hill
Its magical contents have now grown still
Sand trickles slowly through the hourglass
As the waves of time drift slowly past
Today's children would rather watch tv
Than open a book filled with history
Passed down from generations of before
Stories of mystery and lore
Now rest sadly under guard
In the fairy tale graveyard

A-HUNTING

It's a-hunting we're a-going,
Me, my dog, and sprightly horse.
Over hills and though the valleys
We'll maintain a steady course.
We're a-hunting for the fairies,
For the elf and lively sprite.
Have been told we'll never find them,
But I'm thinking we just might!
Over hills and through the woodlands,
Questing, searching, ever more,
Half the fun is in the seeking,
New horizons, misty shores.
Filled with wonder, filled with rapture
For the beauty and the grace.
Mother Nature in her raiment,
Dewdrop diamonds, cobweb lace.
I felt the wind caressing softly
As it trembled ‘cross my face,
Saw the splendor of the flowers,
Held in Nature's warm embrace.
Oh, alas, I found no fairies,
Neither elf nor lively sprite.
Yet the romp with Mother Nature
Made my heart a soaring kite.
Until next we go a-hunting,
Me, my dog, and sprightly horse,
We will longingly remember
Wonders seen upon our course.

THE MIGHTY KNIGHT

The battle long
The journey hard
Evil follows
And keeps pace
Marching of time
Through the devil's gate
Steadfast the Knight rides
Upon his great steed
Lance in hand
Sword at his side
Armored and shielded
He moves forever onward
Desolate lands
Ravaged and worn
Never looking back
But marches on
Mighty is the Knight
He travels alone
The next battle awaits him
Though tattered and torn
Ride ever onward
Each battle he wins
Steadfast and true
Mighty and brave
The battle long
The journey hard
Evil follows
And keeps pace

THE PLIGHT OF OLE SNOOT

Demonic knight sits astride, his ghostly horse,
shooting the breeze, with a wizard, of course.
Upon his eerie path, they met one, dark night,
nearly giving the old wizard's hound, affright.
For he got caught betwixt, the massive beast's hooves,
narrowly saving himself, by sprinting ‘neath the grooves.
As the two specters exchanged, strange greetings in kind,
poor ole dog whined and whimpered, at the skull he did find.
“What is with you, Ole Snoot? What hath got your snout?”,
the hound only quaked, because he's unable to shout.
A gravely voice soon mocked him, for being afraid,
“Hold on little laddie, or I fear you'll be slayed”.
Fiendish knight shook with laughter, at the hound's simpering plea,
“Be off with you, flea bag, and be glad that skull ‘tisn’t me!”
Wizard's eyes blazed red, in tempestuous rage,
for the fetid bag of bones, seemed to forget he's a mage.
With a hidden flourish of hands, his spell was cast,
now the knight 'tis but a memory, in revenge for his sass.

LIFE'S WARRIOR

Fiery darts attack from
every side
a small thought here
a temptation there
home is on the horizon
the written promises
branded firmly on his heart
the armor protects him
and buffets the attacks
but only because it is put on daily
oh the faith this dedicated
soldier bears
his strength he shares
and gives diligently
for the belief
that God  is the Almighty
and always in control

DEATH OF A WARRIOR

  A warrior returned victorious
  laden with the spoils from
  a sweet victory...
  light his mood against the
  darkening horizon...
  A warrior returned victorious
  whirling with thoughts of
  fair maids with rapturous eyes..
  and grateful monarchs..
  merry his thoughts against
  the deepening gloom...
  A warrior returned victorious
  laughter spilling out
  of mouths left gaping...
  conciliatory and bellicose
  the creed of merriment palpable
  against the roiling dank horizon...
  A warrior returned victorious
  shrugging away memories of
  chilling battle cries..
  shrieking in death throes...
  frowning for a moment against
  the sullen air...
A warrior returned victorious
dispelling deep within
the tragedy left behind...
as a warrior returned victorious
another lie dying in the
bright pure light
of an unvictorious day...

DEVILS KNIGHT

With hounds at bay, and sword at ready the Knight mounts his loyal steed
With all manner of affliction over warnings he would not heed
Peering though the cliffs scarred by desolation, surveying the land
Promised to him by the one who sets lost souls in isolation
This once Royal Knight takes in the sites of a land sawn asunder
Threading through the pestilence of death and stench of plunder
A cruel reminder to the Knight his life is passing away
For he has sold his soul to the Devil for a promise long forgotten
That without the spoils from plunder, his promised Kingdom rots
The Devil waves his timepiece a cruel reminder to the Knight
Even loathsome things that crawl at night, cower from his sight
The Devil speaks with tongues of vipers set upon his crown
Makes false promise to the heart that wants and lusts for greed and power
Peering through the cliffs scarred by desolation, the Devil takes the heart
Of this once victorious hero, this almighty Royal Knight
Having pulled back his breastplate of armor his heart has been exposed
Forsaking all salvation, blinded by greed and power
Cast aside his royalty to be baptized as a slave
To the unholy one the only one to whom salvation is foreclosed
No longer royal, no longer loyal... he becomes the Devils' Knight

TIME AND TEMPTATION

In polished steel and tempered iron he took to the road
Off to find adventure living under a chivalrous code
Time and temptation the two mightiest of his many foes
Always seem to await him on every battle field he chose
Rushing to answering the call to arms is where he must go
Lance in hand his charger and he rush boldly to the fro
Unable to see fear on his opponents face made him wiser
Knowing so to were his fears hide behind metal helm and visor
The sound of steel on steel rings loud inside an armored soul
Knowing soon he or the other will suffer a stab and piercing hole
It is always here that he faces the nemesis, time and temptation
They call to him with tales of falling from grace to damnation
Time is fading and from the battle field so many never returns
So why chance the life and future for which he so greatly yearns
But once again he has faced his fears and weathered the assaults
Because he knows to well his limits his weaknesses and his faults
