NANA'S PLACE

The other night whilst in a dream i wandered
neath a dusky patchwork sky
a far distance from where i began
your abode did fall before my slumbered eye

Such friendly light did pour in pools
on sweet clovers rainsoaked ground
and lightly touching, my feet did float
closer to take a look around

how strange it seems, my mind did think
that i would come this way
for many a year, had i thought of you
yet here i was this day.

And lightly touching the sea worn wood
a smile did play upon my face
so many memories, when but a child
to this haven, my legs would race.

Yet, as i peered above on high
a beacon i did see
its gentle light of radiance shone
to bathe me tenderly

my sleeping brain, did toss and turn
to see this beacon's gleam
for new it was, to me you see,
just part of my sweet drenched dream.

so many years, since last i felt
my grandmothers warm embrace
and then i knew that beacon was her
the other night when i dreamed
of Nana's place.

SAFE HAVEN

The waves they crash like thunder
upon the coastal cliffs.
Fierce the wind and driving rain
upon a night like this.

And I within my cottage warm
have gathered all my strength,
to keep the beacon shining forth...
to keep all at arm’s length.

Safe haven from the outside world,
a prison of my choosing.
Well aware of loneliness
and all I will be loosing.

Too many souls have touched with mine,
then turned and walked away...
leaving me with riddles
to fill my lonely days.

SAFE VOYAGE

Cold are the winds that blow from off the sea
and the nights can be dark and fierce.
The light in the tower is steadfast
and into the darkness does pierce.

It stays weary travelers upon the sea
from crashing upon my shore.
To save them from the peril
and bring them home once more.

Their loved ones there are waiting
and pray for safe return.
The voyager happy to be home,
yet tis for the sea he yearns.

WAVES

My life was deeply flooded
like an overwhelming sea
I was drowning in my sorrows
in need of sympathy
And then the tides subsided
and left me to my fate
To dry up on the salty sands
my life was in debate
Once drowning in the turmoil
of the stormy sea so deep
Then tossed upon a dried out land
alone and very neap
Then once again I'm flooded
and emotions overflow
The ebbing tides seduce me
to a place I do not know
Suddenly I find myself
cast upon a strange new land
Collected off the shore line
by a quiet, gentle man
Lost in my confusion
he took me to his home
And washed away my sorrows
that were caked in salty foam
The light of warmth pervaded
deep within my inner core
And I knew his loving heart
would beat with mine for evermore
And tho the tides do rise and fall
like the beatings of our heart
I know the safety of our love
and I know we'll never part.

HOME AND AWAY

Oh rolling waves and savage sea;
You took my love away from me.
That was several months ago;
But every day, I miss her so.

A continent between us yet:
My thoughts return to when we met.
I think of all the love we shared:
How very much we always cared.

But then, ambition made her leave:
Her burning yearning to achieve.
We said we'd put our love on hold:
Wait to see how things unfold.

And then, today, she wrote to me.
She was returning across the sea,
Back home: because she'd missed me so;
So sorry that she'd had to go.

Oh winsome waves and friendly foam
Please bring my lady safely home.
And, lonely beacon, burning bright,
Shine out and guide her way tonight.

STORMS OF MY MIND

Storms of the night
Wave washed shores
Battered and worn
Touched by nature's hand

Hear the roaring sea
Like the thoughts
The thoughts of my mind
Churning and ever changing

See the crashing waves
As the images of my mind
One upon another
Confusion and despair

The light of the tower
The light of my thoughts
Searching threw the night
Looking for release

Inside my house I stand
Protected from the world
Warm and content
Leaving in only my friends

Inside my mind I sit
There is no protection there
Lost and ever searching
Who will I find there

The storms of my mind
Years worn
Never calming
Each day marches onward

Forever is the searching
The journey never-ending
Will the light I see
Will this be seen by me

GUIDING LIGHT

Over the horizon, beyond the sea
A beacon of light shines, guiding me
Safely it beckons me toward the shore
A "Guiding Light" and even more

An island of its own where land and sea meet
In every port, each lighthouse unique
Some appear as mansions, others resemble shacks
But each "Guiding Light", cuts through the black

Whatever it's size, whatever their shapes
They guide the captains journey and fate
To keep him at a distance that's safe
Enabling him to return to a place

To continue to live and enjoy Gods' Grace
In the arms of the woman he longs to embrace
The loves of his life, the sea and his wife
Dependent on the beacon and its "Guiding Light"

LOVERS RETREAT

Over the tides of time when life was simple
Hearts were true and love endured
Faithful, honest and pure
We both said "I do"

We escape to a retreat in order to explore
Nature, and all her natural desires
Caressed by the view of our surroundings
And embraced by the warmth of loves' fire

Nestled in comfort, hidden from view
A honeymoon cottage old, and yet new
Only a beginning of nonstop memories
For young lovers with visions and dreams

Foam capped waves beat upon the shores
Keeping rhythm to the heartbeats that
Whisper deep sighs of pure passion
And contentment behind loves' door

Exiting the cottage as husband and wife
Silent expressions of love as we walk
Still glowing like embers from passions fire
Cooling our souls in the waves of desire

Intermittent soft light illuminates our lair
Soothing our souls... melodic ocean air
Anxious, secure, and content in embrace
Whispers soft light... I'm the Beacon of Hope

THE LIGHTHOUSE

From my vantage point
upon the shore,
I gazed at a shadow
pacing the floor -
my eyes deceive me,
impossible to believe,
thought for sure I’d spied…
No, this cannot be -
The tower left empty,
for so many years,
yet just moments ago,
to the window it nears -
As the warning beacon revolved,
must have flashed in my eyes,
for when I look up to the window…
No. My imagination belies -
Waves crashing against rock,
spraying salt in the air,
fear grips icy fingers,
for that which I’ve spied in there -
Legs turn to water and root to the earth,
my body frozen by terror’s swift dawn,
distant fog horn blows an eerie sound,
as I stare above - on the lighthouse lawn -
ghostly apparition haunts invisibly,
I cannot be sure, of what I’ve seen,
peered up once more, at a silhouette,
where but moments ago, the window had been -
Gaining all of my faculties, in an instant back,
I tore like the wind down the shore,
for I’ve no cause, or desire to meet,
the phantom - who paces the floor -
Thirty years passing, I return anew,
heart beating a rhythm, as I climb toward you,
standing upon same patch, of windblown grass,
hesitantly searching - the lighthouse looking glass -
Terror fades to relief, in the dark of night,
no phantom spied, to give me a fright,
an imagination run wild, of a young lad, to be,
then I sensed the lighthouse phantom - standing by me -

FEELINGS

Are you real
Do you  really exist
I long to touch you
I long to feel your strength
the waves of feeling
wash me and caress me
I want to surrender
Dare I???
I fear losing me
your words they penetrate me
calm me
they make me to know
 that this is real
oh so very real
the feelings deepen and the
desire to know you grows
I long to surrender
please show me how to
for 'tis my deepest hearts desire
to you i will give my all
for now and all of time.....

LIGHT HOUSE

A single light
beckoning
calling
seeking always seeking
come to me it says
my arms hunger for you
I desire to be one with you
only  you  can complete me
fulfill me.
I long to be the one
who can satisfy you.
for just one taste and
no longer will you crave
the others.
My light will become your light
and the two shall
forever brightly shine as one.
good days or bad days
our light shall feed
the hungry and thirsty
come let  us work together
and become that guiding light

WARNING LIGHT

Waves crash against the shore
As if knocking on the door
Of the lighthouse resting there
The sound echoes through the air
A beacon of light shining from the source
Guiding the boats along their course
Warning of the rocks nearby
As the roar of waves fades to a sigh
Rely not only on your ears but also on your sight
As the warning light shines through the night

FORSAKEN

As the sun sets and the lights start to gleam,
The surf and the sea are enticing a dream.
The pounding of surf on the gray rocks below
Sounds like music to me and I’m beginning to know
That all is not lost or forsaken.
If the Powers can send this beauty to us,
If humans can learn to give and to trust,
If light can reach far and guide us all back,
If hope, dreams and love can keep us on track,
Then all is not lost or forsaken.
See the light gleam in the distance beyond?
Shall we answer the call of the light’s siren song?
Let’s follow it now to the cottage we see,
Come in from the darkness and let the light free.
For all is not lost or forsaken.
To home and to hearth, that is the dream,
Op’ning the door and viewing the scene.
Cozy and comfy, warmth and good cheer,
Relatives close and friends that are dear,
It was never all lost or forsaken.

HOPELESS SEA

Pain washes ashore
The bloody banks
Where mutilated bodies
And lost minds lie
Crashing into the rocky barrier
With waves of great force

I stand on rocky shores
Sifting through the remains
Of skeletons and fresh blood
That fell victim to the pain
The unmerciful waves
Bringing them to their knees
Preying on their weakness
A shadow of a doubt

My knees are gouged
With deep cuts
Inflicted by pain's waters
Falling onto the shore
Made of self pity
Bloody banks
Of wasted blood
That did not need to bleed

Sitting among the rubble
Of my surroundings
The crashing waves
Creating a sonic boom
In my life

Diving into the waters
That brought me here
I face my destiny
Whatever it may be

Swimming upstream
Only to cause mutilation
To an already scarred face
My legs and arms are numb
But just when I think
The waves of pain are too high
And hopelessness is the sea
In which I swim
Motivation keeps me striving
For that unreachable goal
Rather than attaching an anchor
To let myself drown

Only to wash upon the shore
And be added to the already bloody banks
Mixing in the solution
To form the perfect potion
For self pity
And a deadly shadow of a doubt

No matter how high the waves
I will not fall

NATURES  CALL

A pretty picture standing here on the very edge of the world
Where upon a sandy beach the ocean's waves are unfurled
Among the rocks they play as if dancing in the suns last light
They rush the beach only to turn back as if running in fright
On the horizon the sun seems to sink into a broadening sea
Leaving twilight's distortions upon all that the eye can see
In the distance sea gulls voices rise in distress disrupting the night
For the lighthouse keeper in defiance of the dark has turned on the light
And the waves that had once lapped gently upon the rocky shores
Pound harder and higher as the rising tide lifts its voice into a might roar
Round and round goes the beacon laying on the water a bridge of sight
Marking the reef that for all its beauty is a sailor biggest terror in the night
And the once rich tropical scenery becomes just shadows as the color's fade
While the creatures of the sea march the beach in an odd marine life parade
A breeze rises softly and caresses the foliage to give voice to its own song
Thus is nature's powerful call and how answering it is anything but wrong
