MASONARY
from the beginnings of passion
sought,
when of young and fragile heart,
hidden in the futures plan,
with love, its torn apart;
lessons learned from vague expectations,
words that were never true,
hasten grieving feelings,
amber glow, fades to blue;
striving for a stoppage,
of soulful pain and sorrow,
working on a wall of stone,
hoping hurt, be gone, tomorrow;
each tier, we lay, in front of
us,
gives a certain type of solace,
slowly, surely blocking, tears,
flooding, onwards, to us;
and as the wall of tears do ebb,
we find, inside our being,
a lesser, colder entity,
passion, all but fleeing;
all too soon, others see,
a path, no longer tread;
behind the wall of stone and
toil,
a heart, that's left for dead...

THE ANGUISH OF
SOLITUDE
Beyond comprehension, beyond
time
Out of the past, and into the
future
The maiden does follow her heart
to this world
Alone, seeking only redemption
from a broken heart.
Wings can not save you from hurt
and pain
Fly away fly away, to a new
domain
What this age brings is newness
of life
Salvation through solitude,
a two edged knife.
Footprints singularly as I walk
alone
The beauty observed fills me
inside
Silence as loud as anything
I have heard
A conversation would dispel
and cast aside.
Wonderment acknowledge as I seek
my peace
Heart to be healed, and pain
to cease
From the portal may not come
another
But to this world, I am resolved.

WINGED BEAUTY
Butterfly lady, you move with
such grace
As you glide across your cave.
So smooth are your paces, so
angelic your face:
With such style and poise you
behave.
Barefooted, you travel across
the scree:
Giant roses adorn the cave's
floor.
Are you disappointed at what
you see,
When you gaze on a world at
war?
Could it be that you are imprisoned
there?
Do those steps lead to liberation?
Or is your solace deliberate
because you can't bear
To see such unrest between nations?
Will you take to the sky upon
your plush wings
Like a moth is attracted to
flame?
And become just one more of
the beautiful things
That mankind has destroyed to
his shame.

CONTEMPLATION
Golden sunset
Blazing across the sky
Scattered sun kissed clouds
Night slowly approaches
Wonders quietly
The entry is near
Gazing into the eve
Another day is done
Moves to the edge
Looking for tomorrow
Something lurks
Hiding in the shadows
What is this?
Opportunities lost
But now regained
Move on and grow
Reaching for tomorrow
Searching for the way
Looking for something there
But for what whom is to say
Forever the search continues
Finding one thing and losing
another
Learning with each loss
Gaining ever more
Search until your hearts content
Finding what ever is there
Be it happiness or loneliness
There is always tomorrow
So struggle on
Find your way
There is something out there
Whatever comes your way
Be it sadness
Be it joy
Be loneliness
Or be it just the new day
Move ever onward
Be it a shining star in the
night
Or a bright new day
It is yours for the taking

FOR THE CHILD
Sleep, my sweet child,
Dream of days yet to come.
Of glorious wings that
Whisk you close to the sun.
Dream not of grim monsters
Lurking oft at your side,
But of enchanting fairies,
Softly flitting on by.
Dream deeply, my child,
Pray for dreams to come true.
If you dream long enough,
This can happen for you!
For dreams can have power
To make wishes be real.
So dream deeply, forever,
And let nobody steal
The promise of future
That is to come.
YOU are the master!
Life has barely begun!

LOVES FREEDOM
The sun does dawn on a brand
new day
With promise of hope and life
to live,
All life responds to its warming
ray
And Nature, her gifts, does
freely give.
The nights dark shadows are swept
away
And the monsters of night do
disappear
And as a rose opens, none can
gainsay
How shallow those fears, insubstantial
and mere.
You turned your back on your
monster of past
And came to the light of my
day
Where life blooms again and
free at last
Your wings can spread to the
warming ray.
Safe in my love, protected you
are
From the demons of past memory
And to-gether at last, where
nothing can mar
The joy of our love set free.

THE LAST SUNSET
One more sunset
One more lost day
A lonely woman dreading the
night
Always so cold without warm
arms.
Pacing the floor
Looking out over the land
Listening for sound
But none at hand
Wanting to scream
To break the silence
But no one to hear
No one to care
Yearning to spread her wings
And fly into the sunset
To feel the warmth
To end the loneliness...

BIRTH
tattered and battered
each ripple and notch
was a trial and had been a test
for many years now she had been
in the making
this sweet beauty had been
the cocoon was a testament
of the past and all she had
been through
the ups and downs
had shaped her molded her
equipped her
for she was the chosen
one
she had a special gift
one only she could do
and now at last
the transformation was complete
she emerged fresh and vigorous
she was prepared to go
out and be who she was meant to be
a lady of pure unconditional
love to all she meets.....
Lady Valor©
EMERGENCE
She emerges slowly from her
cocoon
As the setting sun makes way
for the moon
No longer can she hide her beauty
from the world
Her protective cocoon has now
unfurled
She must step forth and spread
her wings to fly
Her limits as boundless as the
sky
With faith and courage from
within
She faces this stage of her
life about to begin

ANGEL OF TWILIGHT
Angel of twilight
Ready for flight
Young lovers she watches
Well into the night.
Like a rose newly blooming
Gently she'll tend
Young love that is looming
she'll guard to the end.
Troubled lovers will beckon her
And her work will begin
she'll nurture them 'til she's
sure
they will love once again.
For love is so fragile
It must be handled with care
With no love of her own
She has so much to share.
The angel of twilight
Always ready to fight
For the love we all deserve
and that she knows is right.

LIFE'S BURDENS
Roses are red, her mood is blue
More to her life than anyone
knew
Burdens of her life weigh down
her back
What's she going to do, her
world has been black
Out of the night a new day is
born
But her honest heart has finally
been torn
She walks to the edge to just
end it all
But the butterfly wings cushion
her fall
The weight on her back was not
as it appeared
The cumulation of life and things
she had feared
Even a rose with it's pleasant
smell
Has a few thorns, that stick
you as well
Up every morning the sun gives
her light
And one more chance to do things
right

DAY EIGHT
Hardships, loneliness, malicious
vice,
Corruption of soul, hearts stuck
in ice,
Craving, wanting, seeking, need,
All forms of evil's, wanton
seed;
Brittle clay, of mortals' shell,
Intertwined, with weeds from
Hell,
Drawing them, into the mire,
Sinking deeper, towards Satan's
fire,
He alone, knew what would be,
That His children, would never
see,
Compassion, hope,.. life of
ease
Any concept, they could seize,
With this simple gift of love,
From wings of Angels, high above,
Created on the day called
Eight,
They come to us, and seek our
hate,
While we're laying, bodies rest,
They fly our souls, unto their
nest,
And fan the insightful, blight
of sin,
Away from us, away from Him,
When we wake, pure and clean,
Pain and grief, were just a
dream,
Happiness, comes that way,
From His gift, the Eight'th
day..

PRINCESS ELEVEN
As I stumbled through the beach
of purple mist,
I could hear someone singing
out of pure bliss.
I rushed up ahead to see this
sound.
Covered in her wings, it seems
she wanted to be found.
When I got closer she erupted
from dawn.
This ingenue of beauty I thought
was won.
The dichotomy of her world and
mine could be dismissed,
nevertheless her fashion was
established.
Her body could be revealed through
all sections of her gown.
She stop singing at wind, although
it tackle her crown.
I asked her "What is your name?"
without considering the cost.
She left her crown on the ground
and took to the sky to be lost.

DISQUISITION ON
SELF
Youth...
you're tucked away;
you did not sustain the years.
Dreams...
have I lost you now;
my life now stained with tears?
Mind...
you plague me so,
when I so need contentment.
Memories...
you haunt me so,
yet I feel no resentment.
Soul...
I know you now;
no longer do you hide.
Heart...
I break with thee,
without love by our side.

ETERNAL FLIGHT
Between dusk and the dawn
when time moves against the
tide
between heaven and hell
where destiny's future still
rides
lies the line that is drawn
from that place to this
where dreams settle softly
against a warm whispered kiss
when decisions must be made
and paths must be tread
and silken wings
entwined in dewdrops
upon the soul must be fed
allows a rose to blossom
kissed by dawns dappled light
and a solitary woman is lifted
once more within loves
ever eternal flight.

ANGELIC BEAUTY
Approaching darkness
she knows no fear
though she may seem all alone
other angels are near.
Roses spring forth
to kiss her with dew
innocence is her beauty
her soul pure and true.
She has never known sorrow
her existence is blessed
as with the host that surrounds
her
her heart peacefully rests.
Touch me, sweet angel
with your beauty so bright
lead me away from this darkness
to that city of light.

MADAME BUTTERFLY
Alighting gracefully upon eroded
stone,
on gossamer wings, so far from
home.
A mystical spirit -
guardian of souls
silken wings surround,
and lovingly enfold.
Bathed in radiant glory
of pre-dawns vibrant light,
human eyes glimpse rarely
yet never capture this sight.
Silently hovering
over life we seek,
passive - serene -
great secret she keeps.
invisible guidance
for lost souls everywhere,
in one instant she gleams -
the next she's not there.
Behind her follows
a flaming owl familiar,
Guardian of Spirits -
a great horned, pillar.
Roses blossom
before her in honor,
unseen by man -
on silent wings she wanders.
Blessing the moments
each new dawn provides,
hidden between worlds -
this fairy, she hides.
Once upon a time
all mankind could see,
eons have passed -
now no one believes.
Yet old tales remain
that bring her to life,
and patiently she waits -
for when the time is right.
But buried deep
within those tales,
the secret she keeps -
and the one she trails.
And so it goes
as the story's tell,
when ones been touched -
by her enchanted spell.
Every now and then
man is allowed to spy,
this fabled, magical creature
Madame Butterfly.

UNTITLED
The white gown she wore
Contrasted against the darkening
skies
Her melancholy smile
Carried an essence of sorrow
That was not to be lifted
Engraved upon her face
Her feet patterned a repetitious
beat
Against a cold slab of rock
The short distance she has traveled
Has taken all her life
Yet she does not look back
From where she came
Her eyes stare downward
Knowing the rock will soon end
And the wings she has grown
Will determine her fate
In the corner of a glance
She sees the rose covered path
That could have been hers
Had she taken the right steps
There is no time for regret
The rock is wearing thin
Her path has been set
And it is now or never
Fatal blackness lies beyond
Ever darkening skies above
The wings on her back
Are beautiful indeed
But they are flawed
And will not carry her weight
When she takes her final leap
A gown of white
Lost in a sea of black
Tattered wings
Float above the surface
But she is not attached
She was not ready to fly

AS A BUTTERFLY
What is happening?
feeling like a revolving top
wishing this turmoil would stop
I feel the web unwhirling
that held me secure
why do they wish me away
it's only here I wish to stay
security without any worry
eyes closed with vision blurred
no one will listen I shan't
be heard
I feel like Wendy with pirates
guiding her
to the plank
then along comes peter before
she sank
I also envision adolescence
games
some still played all the same
skipping rope keeping momentum
and beat
composing a jingle before your
retreat
some were ridiculous didn't
make any sense
then as we get older our words
are intense
sort of as an orange surrending
its fruit
now being barren
not a soul gives a hoot
something is changing
like being evolved
soon this all must be solved
why this soundlessness
where are the words?
someone please respond
this is so absurd
hark!
this may not be at all what
it seems
perhaps this is liberation like
in all of my dreams
as I crawl away not an expression
is uttered
silence my friend like no other
I feel like an angel
look at my wings
aha!
my heart it wants to sing
this is my opportunity to be
set free
to find myself
Wow
Look at me

ANGEL TEARS
As an angel on butterfly wings,
for two thousand years, heavens
above,
have I watched mankind's painful
thing.
Such an angry world you have
grown,
of death, hate, blood and despair,
now the time to hell--- evil
thrown.
Know me, you shall not, by sight
alone,
appear amongst you, I briefly
will,
in an altered form, quite unknown.
Come I shall, for those that
are true,
those that feel, love, cherish,
the earth,
even if from multitudes--- only
a few.
When I am there, at your side,
I will touch you--- softly----
faintly,
if you feel, you must come,
on heaven's ride.
Shall you fail to feel me near,
to ignore me now, when I am
close,
a price to pay-- for you-- fire--
pain-- eternal fear.
For you see, the wings of my
soul,
cannot carry me to your distant
land,
where men die, women cry ---
the devil's toll.
So now a time for me -- transform,
to wings of substance to carry
me far,
for mankind-- I cry-- I see--
a fiery storm.

SACRIFICE
Sacrificial virgin blanketed
in snowy white,
guardian fixed protectively,
behind her shining light.
Shale cool and smooth, beneath
her delicate, bare feet,
burning portal remains open,
for her guardians final retreat.
Roses bloom in her honor, gently
blossoming full,
in deference to her station,
and the deed which seems so cruel.
Upon the apex of sunrise, a
virgin must unselfishly die,
head bowed in deep sorrow, her
guardian silently cries.
Horrific weight of her choice,
spares him no pain,
thoughts of his beloved's absence,
his head hangs in shame.
Unworthy he feels, to have allowed
her this choice,
fire streaks across the sky,
seemingly taunting rejoice.
The virgin leans upon her guardian,
breathing in his essence and strength,
for she mirrors his feelings,
yet separates herself at length.
Pure as a snowflake, which never
touches the earth,
this day they shall part, as
its been since her birth.
A creature of unknown origin,
her guardian spell-bound,
spanning time he has come, to
throw her off this hallowed ground.
Her powerful life force, vibrates
through his shattered soul,
dejected and defeated by circumstances,
well beyond his control.
Regally she steps forward, to
boldly accept her designed fate,
crushed, he bows in silence,
for the loss of his eternal mate.
For it is by his own hand, that
she is doomed to death,
and as he picks her lithe body
up, she draws her last breath.

THE MORNING PRAYER
O Lord allow me to witness the
beauty
of another sunrise.
Let your greatness shine upon
my eyes.
Help me make it through another
day.
Show me not the wrong, but rather
the right way.
Be my guide, protect me from
harm.
Here, Lord, grasp my outstretched
arm.
If You hear my prayer, Lord,
let your
answer come through my eyes.
Allow me to witness another
sunrise........

BUTTERFLY HEAVEN
Precious gift in
a cocoon of gold
encased within white
velvet
Surrounded by darkness
smothered in silence
a soft beat, a heartbeat
begins
On the stem of strength
of the mountain rose
her metamorphosis
protected
Her butterfly haven
atop the mountain rose
openly exposed to
heaven
Her journey before her
as she steps to the edge
and peers out to the earth
below
A heavenly body
on monarch wings
flutters and sighs with
contentment
Peaceful, serene,
accepting of life
not seeing nor hearing its
strife
Her joy is to fly amongst
the birds and the bees
perhaps even taste of life's
honey
Hard worker is she as
she flits and she flutters
from orchid, wildflowers and
leaves
Gentle and delicate
on outstretched wings
she glides over mountains
and streams
Grown weary to soon
from her toils and her troubles
she embarks on her journey
home
She brings to her rose
new silk and new velvet
her death mask she lays
alongside
Dormant 'til called on
to bloom with the rose
within the haven of
butterfly heaven

THE SOUL HAS WINGS
As I stepped out into the world
and blossomed from my cocoon
I found my wings ready for flight
and I soared up to the moon
When I returned back to my home
a stranger was sitting there
He sat amongst pink roses
their scent had filled the air
Quietly we watched each other
both of us afraid
To get too close, or scare the
other
from promises to be made
Side by side, we talked together
from sun rise to sunset
Breaking down the walls of pain
and hurts that we need forget
As time passed, we began to grow
our spirits became one
Now every day that comes around
our love rises like the sun

GYPSY MOTH
From the past she stepped out
into the world anew
A canvas of colors and beauty
too good to be true
Now a creature worth loving,
she remembered her kind
Free as the wind with no responsibility
to lovers in mind
But her heart cried out, for
she knew this would never do
She wanted, and she needed a
life long lover to hold on to
So nectar of passions breeding
ground she made her home
That she would be one gypsy
moth that need never be alone
Truly a rose by any other name
would smell as sweet
Were her thoughts with a bounty
of rose petals at her feet
She hoped a male made mad by
natures most fragrant perfume
Would ignore his strong instinct,
and for her in his heart find room
