HORSE TALES

I went down to the ocean
you won't believe what I seen
a white horse glistening wet
galloping from the sea.

I asked him what he was doing
charging from the ocean's swell
he was dragging his tail behind him
with yet another tale to tell.

He said "I hopped on a wave this morning
while walking along the sand,
I rode it for a couple of hours
now exhausted, here I stand."

"I'm an ultimate rider, a true survivor
of the waves cascading the shore,
and if you're really interested
listen up, and I'll tell you more".

I stood there in sheer amazement
to the story that I just heard
I thought this was totally awesome
though I'd never repeat a word.

So if a horse tries to sell you this tale
put your drinking glass away
maybe he's just horsing around
cause you know that horses don't ride waves.

SEEING CLEARLY

Often walking miles along the sea shore
And listening to the sounds of the oceans roar.

I write down all the things that bother me
As I walk, I rip them up and toss them into the sea.

Throwing away all of my doubts and fears
With all the tears I've cried over the years.

Seeing clearly now, as if for the first time
No longer will I be afraid of the nighttime.

Waiting for the white angel winged stallions
Together forever, we will be life long companions.

As I watch the waves with its seafoam lace
I get my strength from its mighty power and grace.

UNTITLED

In pounding surf on windswept beach
Ghost horse begins to form
mid raging waves and splashing screech
heralds approaching storm

The sea foam color of his coat
reflects the crescent moon
as deathly still the air denote
the storm in soft commune

The Ghost horse blends into his shape
in sea spray salty mist
with pounding hooves makes his escape
the sea at last dismissed

The cloudy sky, the sea groomed sand
reflect his glaring eyes
the trees now tremble where they stand
this ghost they recognize

No mortal e’er can see him run
before each raging gale
when scudding clouds blot out the sun
Sir Storm starts to unveil

Flashing across darkened terrain
his withers flecked with foam
the Ghost Horse melts into the rain
but waits again to roam

And then the sea is calm and still
waves lapping on the shore
but Storm again must have his fill
and Ghost will run once more

THE LAST UNICORN

Listen closely my dears
the story must be told,
while our minds are young,
before our hearts grow cold.

In that special time
that parts night from day,
as the waves crash towards shore,
the unicorns come out to play.

From the mist and spray,
the majestic beasts are born.
It is today as it was in old,
they hide from those who scorn.

Be you young or old
there is but one rule,
only the pure of heart
witness their rise from the pool.

Childish dreams and imagination,
magic and mystery abound,
only in a world of fantasy,
may the unicorn still be found.

THE WARNING

As I walked along the beach,
A vision came to me:
Eight horses from Atlantis;
The land beneath the sea.
But why were these eight horses
Appearing on the shore?
Were these milk white stallions
A harbinger of war?
Or had there been disturbances
In their world beneath the ocean?
Some underwater holocaust
Of which we had no notion?
Had they escaped to warn us
Of some impending doom.
A fear that man must live with
From the cradle to the tomb.
The fear of nuclear Armageddon
That may blow our world asunder.
The disease of global politics:
Each other's land to plunder.
I blinked, and just as suddenly
This vision disappeared.
But the concept that it left behind
Must none the less be feared.

MORNING ARISES

Authority enriches the day
As clouds wisp the skies
Crescent power hangs in sway
The violence of the sea creates
One rolling pounding roar
Equal with vast of life
The stallion knew his might
In his view he set his goal
With a robust virile fight
His energy would not decrease
His strength thus led him on
And beside his gilded stride
A dominant mare was sworn
Not knowing where he may lead
Her uncertainty abreast
She knew that she must stride with him
To acquire his substantial best
The closer sandy shores came
Reflective times  grew more
She knew her faith would remain
In him upon the earthen floor

SANDCASTLE HEARTS

Imagery, mystery, us to see,
Dreams to hopes, set us free,
Waters to waves slowly form,
Steeds of love from a distant storm,
Depths they came, crystalline blue,
Searching for love, pristine true,
Galloping forth their manes do flow,
Coats of white, no shadow show,
Thru the land of sandcastle hearts,
Never they appear far apart,
Flows in our veins, stallions virility,
Muscles ripple, a lovers host, virginity,
Bodies move, melded two, perfect unison,
Two to one, fire hot blood, electric passion,
Steeds they came from the waters deep,
Gave to us, true treasures we reap.

THE RIDE

The horses were magnificent
pure  muscle and raw strength.
He said pick one, anyone,
and we shall ride.
And Ride we did.
Oh the beauty of the day,
the sun was shining
the flowers were blooming,
the surf was washing and caressing.
It was a  most glorious ride
we laughed and sang,
oh how handsome he was.
Love radiated from his every pore
We were one with the horses and each other.
our hair was flying as we flew across the land
such a site  it was.
oh the joy and peace,
the love was abundant that day and free.
We stopped and rested for only a moment.
And I awoke.... oh what a vision?
Oh what a dream or was it?
Smiling , thinking as I brush the tangles
from my very wind blown hair.

THE DAWN'S WAVE

The wind crushing my face with wet stings
Eyes smarting to salty tears shared from the sea
The waves rumble as they bring far off things
To our shores with careless concerns to ours pleas

A last wave erupts as sun doth rise
Spring forth a vision of passion
As all is calm around this swift surprise
As it brings forth a new fashion

White billowing foam hath coalesced
The wind surges forth- it forms at the crest
But the hammering beat silences the world
Galloping forth shaking mane unfurled

I see its beginning I know not its end
I see the swift coursing my blood rises then
I know not what journey we shall complete
Stormy unbridled swiftly we meet

They say that every horse has its master
But there is always one you can not tame
But my heart beats oh so much faster
As I run to ride this passions flame

WITHIN THE TIDES OF MAN

Within the tides of man.... run the horses...
They hear the call of the Masters voice
and they come without question
without hesitation... they come
they rise up out of the sea
like the thrashing of a dying heart
the spray kicked up around them
scattering like so many tears
thrown from the soul in a torrent...
and falling softly back to earth...
barely seen as they merge
with all the tears cried before....
Rarely does any see the beauty of this
the sleek heaving sides of strength
The thundering rhythm of life.... and death
Does any see the glowing light within the tears
The light of hope..... the light of birth......
as from the pool of tears....
love fights its way back into existence....
All that is needed is to stop..... just...... stop.....
and for one breath of time
look for the beauty of the horses
within the tides of man

THE MYSTIC WARRIOR HORSE

It had been a long journey to reach this Island.....
The Gods had guided me through fate....
Chains will never hold me down, nor a key confine....
I seek warriors with a twist similar to mine....
Now I feel the wind is from the west....
All the waves that cannot rest....
As the roar of thunder hits the beach....
I hold my arms with open reach.....
Now comes out of the waves, a mighty Beast......
Forming out of silhouette, to a charging white mystic stallion....
There was no fear, but only rejoice....
I knew now this was part of Gods voice......
Now as I ride and we become one...
We feel each others power equal to none.....
The flickering flame of Hope, is now a blaze.....
Yes now I know I will find you.....
My Love, My Life, My quest is on..........

PERIDOT SEA

Stallion leads
he dances
with forceful entry
streams graceful flooding
her peridot sea

Inspires fever'd cresting
stirring her once still pond
flushed with passions fire
majestic heat, frigid water boils

Pounding thunder's promise
breaking waves
echoes audible tidal chanting
crashing rhythm riding

Winds of arduous release
lightening cracked screams
rolling in all her splendor
hence comes his Peridot Sea..

THE SHADOWS THAT FOLLOW

As days go by
Each way that is past
Behind us follows, perhaps flies
There are the shadows that last

Though oft times unseen
Always they are there
The shadows of the past
Always they are in the air

Lessons sometimes learned
More often not
Mistakes to be repeated
Always there appears to be a lot

Look back at the shadows
See what can be seen
Lessons to be learned
Life is not always as it seems

NEPTUNE

Early morning dawn a mystic silence covers the sea,
God Neptune rises and opens his gates of depth
To set them free.
Now they emerge galloping with powerful hooves
Following the mighty stallion
His head held up high with pride
To shore he leads his herd
With fast strides
Uninhibited untamed
In search of freedom unbound
To roam freely
In peace
at last found

UNSADDLED SEAS

So as the tide of grief, stampedes upon the shore,.
All we ever had, is lost for evermore..
From deep beneath, life's slick cam's grace,
Where all was true and bound in place,
The view that's shown, to those above,
Is what's been lost, this fleeing love,
As the unforgiving tide,  of lost emotions rise,
And set upon, uncaring sand, our tears, our loss, our sighs,
What we see, inside ourselves,  the parting of the wave,
Where all we thought that mattered,
life's pounding surf, does cave,
The pasture of love's ocean, broad, and vast, and wide,
Where passion, comfort and security, only should reside,
Is full of ransacked stables, of wayward, thieving steeds,
That take from us, all our feelings, and even, all our needs,
They gallop always, out of grasp, the reins, we cannot find,
Misty manes of uncertainty, always on our mind...

HORSE'S NIGHT

Hades’
Ivory beasts
Rise
Under
The light
Of night
To trample
The seas
With a demonic vengeance
Determined
To stomp
The sandy shores
Mercilessly
Under their hooves
Of rage
With ghostly speed
Certain this night
And waves of pain
Will grant release
To more than just the shells of man
But will feed their dark needs- within.

ONCE

Once, when hot blood fluxed with feverish glee,
And youth dispelled its course in rampant lust.
Then, as was meet, we too, disported thus;
The central vortex of our love: robust.
The incandescence of old times must fade,
We may be granted yet a better gift,
Which benefaction, passes youthful love,
Though nameless, never ceases to uplift.
Years pass, and dermal luminescence fades,
So too, with strength, endurance, and power.
Replaced by courage to go unafraid,
Together, steadfast, to the final hour.
.. . Needing only our tested strength within,
.. . Dispensing with all false concept of sin.

SANDS OF FREEDOM

Have you seen the Beasts
Held Captive
On the Sea of Iniquity.

Forced to Ride the Tides
Running on the Rolling Waves
Racing for the Shore,
The Shore of Tranquility.

Just as their Hooves
Stroke the Sands of Freedom
They are ripped back into
The Sea of Iniquity…

I am Trapped
in a Sea of Iniquity.
Lost in a Constant
  Drudgery of Life.
The Sands of Freedom
Tickle my Senses,
Lurking just Beyond
My Reach.

SEAHORSES

Come wander with me
I live by the sea
I am small
A minuscule wonder

My home are the reefs
Beautiful to see
I graze upon
Seagrass meadows

Tiny my fins
Awkward in shape
My movements
Not particularly agile

Yet I'm a master of disguise
On camouflage I rely
To avoid being prey
To those hungry

Once I am born
I fend for myself
My existence is
Albeit endangered

Where shall I roam
When I lose my home
To the pollution
Of my inshore habitat

Before my demise
Grant my wish
Impossible.. To Gallop
Like my offshore counterpart

ASSATESGUE PONIES

In fifteen hundred eighty-four
A Spanish ship set sail;
Along the coast of Maryland,
So goes the mythic tale.

The galleon glided peacefully
Upon the open sea
'Til whipping winds came blowing in
That caused a tragedy.

The heavy boat was sinking fast.
The raging waters surged.
Yet from the violent pounding waves,
A miracle emerged.

Eight horses fought with all their might
And swam themselves to shore.
These death-defying animals
Of legendary lore.

Now on the Island Assateague
The wild ponies roam.
Descendants of those ancient mares
Who made the coast their home.

PEGASUS

Run, My sweet children ... Flee !!!
Your flight grants My LIFE to Me.
I am your Creator, Poietes,
The ONE, Sole Existence in these seas.

But, in YOU lie my hopes
To skirt disaster,
My dear Poet Popes.
I, Poetaster ...

.... Command you to fly
To high Helicon
To provide for My Muses
A poetic aeon.

As your hooves strike a blow
Making Hippocrene flow
Your wings shall I grant thee,
My dear Pegasus

FREED SPIRIT

Up from the deep,
dark ocean floor,
rising to surface,
my spirit to soar.

Once breathing black water
which weighted me down,
now fresh air, a savior,
my soul would not drown.

Companions no longer
creatures of the deep,
knowing not night or day,
I now can find sleep.

The wind in my face
as I race from the sea,
wild wonder in my eyes,
this spirit now free.

MOTHER'S WAY

Created by Mother's life giving water
Carried by a cresting wave to shore
The first wild horses roam the Earth
Their hooves echoing the water's roar

Made with strength and speed
As the wave was strong and fast
These creatures have a beauty
And a purpose that will last

Man will come to tame them
For work, sport and play
Man and animal interwoven
As this is Mother's way

PILGRIMAGE OF A MAN

My friend left today...
he left on a journey
of self awareness
of moral nobility
of selfless love..

My friend left today...
he left on his pilgrimage
without me
the way it had to be
the way we knew it
would happen...

My friend left today...
yet he left behind
a golden moment
caught in time...
he left covering
me with his love...

My friend left today...
and as I watched
the chains of sadness
fell away from him
as he crested the
sea of his maturity
and the waves pushed
him steadily onward...

I watched a boy
turn into a man today
and as I watched
I wept tears of joy.

OCEAN SHORE

My soul, raging, waging, warring
against the ocean floor
crashing on the ocean shore
fighting to get to the top
but breaking...
loving tender hearts, and living a purist life
but faking...
what a wonder it would be
to make it... to be free
free of fascination of expiration
of these dreams that live and die in vain
to be an inspiration...
like you...
for who I am to be true
to ride off the waves as a white horse
no longer entangled in the ocean's force
but free to love, free to live...
Oh the price I would give

BECOME ONE

Calming seas where deep waters flow;
the birth of us on the surface floats.
Traveling on wind, steered by tide and fate;
we learn, as one to the other we relate.
Nearing the land, we hear the water's nearby thunder;
it fills our senses to tell of this spell we are under.
Carried away with these stronger emotions found,
we, one with each other, for all eternity bound.
Approaching the shoreline, no longer alone to stand;
softness of your kiss.... is as the waves to the sand.

GHOST OF THE PAST

You cant run
You cant hide
You cant wash away
The ghost of the past

They seem to follow
No matter how fast you trod
Look behind you
You will see

They are there
Lurking...
Laughing...
Reminding... of past mistakes

But...
Does life go on or
Does life pass you by
How do you get ghost to rest? How?

EXODUS

Pounding head
thunderous stampede
throbbing pain
aching for unconsciousness
relief
far from where I want to be
restless tears
stinging cheeks
terrified to think
nerve riddled hands
drenched with perspire
relief
is but a prayer
I desire
pressure
gallops from me
as hoofs of a thousand horses
I'm free

SEA HORSE QUEEN

Earthshine rises on mirrored blue
The clouds crest on the seas
Thunderous sounds roll onto the land
As creatures race into the breeze

Sea foamed colored night mares
Emerge to Freedom's dawn
The Sea Horse Queen leads the herd
From the wave from which they're spawned

Onto the shifting lands of Man
The Sea Horse Queen prevails
As she guides her herd into the day
Onto Love's old paths and trails

Her goal is one of teaching
That Love cannot be tamed
Like horses running free and wild
Love can not be contained

Love may ebb, but neaps once more
As it rushes to the shore
Reflections of Love's beating heart
Like hooves pounding at the door

SALTWATER KISSES

today
in my secret garden by the sea
all that I imagine becomes real
my loveless
aching body
no longer squeezed
by tentacles of denial

the scars of her effigy
as ravenous black eyed sharks
languishes within the sea lace
of my apathy
never again ripping into my heart

the jagged bed of shells
she forced me for years
to walk upon gingerly
becoming softened
purest white
satiny smooth sand
that I now run freely upon
leaving her to flounder
within the wake of my unconcern
as I search the shore of my dreams
for the one who truly has my love

it seemed like ages ago
she whispered those words into my ear
telling me that she loved me
she did not want to go
I believed her
I still do

this is a painfully joyous
new morning in my life
the dawn awakens me
singing songs of once again
she arises out of aquamarine dreams
riding atop silvery saltwater stallions
"come with me my love
to the eternal depths of our communion"
I closed my eyes and smiled
as her saltwater kisses
filled my lungs.

SADDLE THE STORM

Phantoms from the depths of the sea
Come rushing forth, a wild stampede,
Crashing down upon the trampled shore.
Nothing can harness this power.
Rage charges forth wave after wave;
Nothing can, this unbridled storm, stave.
Tails of flotsam trail through each wake.
Watery manes leap, fall, and break,
Crashing down upon the trampled shore.
A surging herd of steeds stampedes
Free from the fathoms of the sea.
Nothing can, this energy, keep;
No corral can contain the deep.
Reins don't control a single bit
Of the sea's storming, raging fit.
Tails of flotsam trail through each wake.
Watery manes leap, fall, and break.
The stormy stallion stomps the shore.

ANOTHER OCEAN

Crashing waves
Threaten to swallow us alive
Leaving us no choice
But to run

Gallantly we trot
Trying to keep
Our sense of pride
Close at hand
For something to grasp
When life throws its curves

Each new problem
And each new task
Causing us to flee
Even more than the last
Until we look back
At the ocean we have crossed
Only to look ahead
At an even bigger one
That lies just across the sand
That at one time
Was our goal

Things aren't always
As they seem
Running for all our worth
To get away
From the daily annoyances
To reach that sense of safety
Only to find
Another one awaits us
Another day
Another problem
And another ocean to conquer

SIR REED MY STEED

Wind in my hair and the roar of the surf in my ears
All is right with the world and my mind is free of all fears
Sir Reed my steed surges with its spirit wild and free
Splashing water in a high and wide wake behind me
Thrash and boil the angry water churning at me feet
Still onward I push not wanting my ride to be complete
My head thrown back I give a mighty triumphant yell
I am mastering the waves and the whole world I shall tell
But the tide grows more violent with each great wave
As if in an effort to throw me so its honor it might safe
Cresting so high each wave blocks the next from view
Sir Reed turns to the beach too late there is nothing to do
Cast into the air then plunged deep into the onrushing sea
I fear what the fate of my loyal and trusted steed will be
Coughing water from my lunges I cry out my great abhor
Because my board is broken, Sir Reed will surf no more
