WISDOM'S TRUTH

The knowledge of the ages
at birth to us endowed
deserts us soon thereafter
our learning is allowed.

This adds to each uniqueness
as lessons are retained
individual processing
of all our knowledge gained.

The process is continual
through our living years
sculptured in our minds
a part of us adhered.

With all our erudition
be mindful of your heart
learning is but a beginning
and emotions are a part.

Each being we encounter
is affected by word and deed.
How we deal with others
is something we should heed.

Let your truth guide your steps
See with heart and soul and mind
be solicitous to those in need
whom in life's journey you find.

Share your laughter and your strength
be true unto yourself.
Nothing is accomplished when
knowledge remains on the shelf.

THE PUZZLE

Many pieces fit together to form a whole
Changing pieces reach a common goal
For as time passes, pieces form
Each one different, there is no 'norm'
All the pieces of the past
Form together a future cast
Not in stone but in time
Flowing smoothly like this rhyme
Each piece bound and entwined
Later perhaps to be refined
For time won't stop or be stilled
History is but a future fulfilled

KNOWLEDGE, WEALTH, POWER...
...FOR WHAT?

Don't come to me with questions
or for tidbits of advice
I haven't any answers
to get you through your life.

If you've come in search of knowledge
there is much for me to learn
with many books to read
many pages yet to turn.

If you've come in search of wealth
no money can I lend
I've worked for many years
spending every cent.

If you've come in search of power
I have none that I can give
for I am just a peon
in this world we live.

The only thing I can tell you
is be true to yourself
never turn away from trusting
or loving someone else.

EDUCATION

Father Time
offers
his greatest gift,
experience.

Humankind
receives
the precious knowlege,
history.

Mother Earth
prays
we learn from our,
mistakes

IS THE PAST IN OUR FUTURE?

Looking to the past
To try and figure out the future
Remembering the day
The pilgrims arrived on the Mayflower
Holding the world in their hands
Not knowing what would come of this
But they gave thanksgiving for all they had
Not taking anything for granted
Taking a look
At the long lost days of Honest Abe
A figure all were to look up to
But does anyone really strive for that anymore?
And a time when man had never been to the moon
Before they knew the earth was round
We look to the past
And how we have learned and expanded in knowledge
About this world we live in
So that we might be able to figure out the future
We have so much more now
Than they ever thought possible
But yet we try to save the past
Attempting to bring some of it with us
As we move ahead
Lifting this buried treasure from the depths of the sea
By hands that are bound by the things we have now
And take for granted
Looking in at the first years
When we formed a nation
In awe at how they lived
Always thankful for what little they had
Trying to make the best of it
Hoping desperately
That our future
Will hold a little bit of that past

WISDOM DISPLACED

Society warehouses
Wisdom and knowledge
Trapped in human minds
In day care centres
In nursing homes
Hidden away
Its value defined
By the times
Rather than its ability
To elevate the human
Consciousness and essence
Above society's gods
Money and power
Has it always been thus?
The beauty of the song
Of the soul
Of an individual
Lost in oblivion.

INSIDE A POETS MIND

Balanced on the hands of time
I struggled with my thoughts looking for a rhyme
Deep wisdom of philosophers past
In their enlightenment I tried to bask
Then the romantic classics came to mind
But words on statues and ruins I could not find
So to the mysteries of myth and magic I did turn
Where stonehinge and druids in my mind did burn
But up in smoke my thoughts faded from view
I wonder now what kind of poem I should do
Maybe to space and the last frontier I should go
There are things out there that man will never know
Or should I write on the things I know the best
Friends, fights and feelings and throw out the rest
So many things to write about in here can I find
At play on the playground inside of my mind
