BECOME HUMAN AGAIN
We are called human beings
Because we have a conscience
We are different from animals
Because we know right from wrong
We are human
We feel hurt when we are hurt
We lose a piece of ourselves
When someone physically hurt us
We are human
Because we have sympathy
Something deep within us
Goes awry when we see suffering
We cry at a movie
Because we are human
This one little criteria
Tear ducts make us human
We are human
We feel sadness and happiness
We can smile at the latter
And cry at the former
We feel a loss at death
We are happy at birth
We respect the dead
And celebrate a birth
But we have become numbed
To all violence recently
And we are becoming like animals
Although some of us behave worse
Like so many vices
We have become addicted
We have or are losing our
Feeling of sensitivity
This is so very sad
For having come so far
Yet we have lost so much
We have lost our humanity
If we are to survive
As the human species
Then we have to go
Back to the basics of life
