The Dragon Myth

It's written many years ago, that there were Dragons throughout the and,

That " Knights ", they went and faced them, with a sword held in their hand.

The Knights, were bold, the stories told that they only had a shield,

To protect them from the Dragons, when they fought them in a field.

Well, that has got to be propaganda, and here are my reasons why,

Dragons, they weren't Earthbound, Dragons, they could fly.

With a roar that belches fire and flame, and a tough and scaly skin,

It would roast a Knight in second, the Knight just couldn't win.

George, the patron saint of England, killed the last Dragon in the land,

Well, that is what the books all say, but I say that's rather grand.

That story, is nothing to do with a Dragon, and nothing to do with a Knight,

It was the suppression of us Picts and Celts, by those who had the might.

They forced us from our homeland, into Scotland and to Wales,

Where we learned live in harmony, in our glens, our hills and vales.

Us Welsh still have our Dragon, and on our flag, it flies with pride,

They might glorify their story, but the Dragon hasn't died.

The Scots kept fighting for their freedom, and eventually won the day,

When they finally got devolution, it meant, they also got their say.

Us Welsh, a little way behind the Scots, we have our own say too,

Now the eyes and ears of our nation, must hear the voices of the few.

The Union Flag of our nation, it includes the English, the Irish, the Scot,

Does it include our Welsh Saint's emblem, that obvious, it does not.

These are my own views of the Dragon, and of the struggle, and the hate,

But remember we're one Nation, and let's keep our Britain Great.
