The Crime and Disorder Act 1998
Links to HMSO website which publishes acts in Britain. Until this act became law Britain still had the death penalty for piracy and high treason. This act amends the 1837 Piracy Act so that instead of reading "and being convicted thereof shall suffer death" to "and being convicted thereof shall be liable to imprisonment for life".
