At Stade de Diddy, 682 punters turned up, and despite threatening clouds at the horizon, no rain came. Diddy started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. They fielded: Lardinois - MacKechnie, Murchie, Crookshanks - Abernethy, Diblík, Dis, Balaji, MacGeoch - Bond, Hovden.
Monaghan tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. They fielded: Olsson - Tonnochy, MacRury, MacIntyre - Johansson, Hoel, Butterfield, Docharty, Rorison - Kinsella, Bengtsen.
Diddy were mostly trying to use the flanks for their attacks. Monaghan clearly preferred attacks in the middle. After 13 minutes Monaghans Anton Bengtsen made his way through the middle, putting the visitors up 0 - 1. Airlie Murchie received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly, probably out of lack of experience, in the 22nd minute and almost caused an opponent to score. After a fatal mistake from the away teams right side defense in the 27:th minute, an alert Kirk Dis bagged the ball, evening the score to 1 - 1. 1 - 1 was the half-time score. Monaghan, bringing the final ball possession rate to 60 percent, dominated the battle.
Monaghan took the lead in the games 54:th minute with 1 - 2 after some elegant plays down the middle. Phil Kinsella was the scorer. A header from Kirk Dis connected with a corner kick after 67 minutes, and the ball ended up with Hamish MacKechnie of Diddy who shot the 2-2 goal. Phil Kinsella caught everyone off guard with an opening pass - but unfortunately Erik Johansson was as surprised by the move as anybody else, and managed to miss the extraordinary opportunity. Monaghan, bringing the final ball possession rate to 59 percent, dominated the battle.
As none of the teams had managed to win, extra time was called. In the 97:th minute cheers broke out as Ishayu Balaji found his way through the guests central defense line, clipping the 3 - 2 goal in for Diddy. With that Diddy had won the game in extra time. The most dominating Diddy player was without a doubt Jeffrey MacGeoch. However, Daniel Crookshanks made a disastrous appearance. Monaghan´s best player was Andrew MacRury. However, Erik Johansson made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 3 - 2.
