A 13th century hamlet extending northwards from Stone Court could possibly have reached as far as the site of the Cottage hospital, but by 17th century had shrunk. *(2)

At the time the Hospital was built, foundations for a large building were uncovered.

- Walter Cole, early 17th century
- E. Hoskins *(3)
- William Scawen (sold to him in 1669)
- Beeston Long *(4) (occupied ~1755 & bought 1781)
- Sam Long inherited; demolished ~1820. *(5)
- the house was large with seven bays on one side and five on the other *(6)
