DLCAPI
DLCAPI is a non-profit
association organized to provide service to Philippine Drum and
Lyre Corps nationwide activities.
In the 80's, Drum and
Lyre Corps began to increase in numbers and grow musically. They
bega to more competitive not only on drills but displaying fancy
uniforms. Percussion and Lyre instrument became high tech and easy
to use and considered cheaper than Drum and Bugle Corps instruments
while the traditional majorette has been transforming to color guards.
Drum and Lyre Corps through
this past years developed their repertoire kind of music from folk,
pop, Broadway, Classical and Jazz, creating an excitement combined
with fancy drills, of course by the influence of Philippine Drum
and Bugle Corps and Drum Corps International.
As the Drum and Lyre
Corps and its activity grew, so was the need to organize the DLCAPI
for the betterment of Drum and Lyre Corps and its entire activity.
Thus, in June 2001, Drum and Lyre Corps Association of the Philippine
Incorporated was formed and will become the means of enabling DLC's
to encourage and govern the development of their own activities.
DLCAPI also specialized in organizing Drum and Lyre Corps, Band
Showando's, Competitions, Exhibitions and Standstill performances.
Through the guidance
and leadership of DLCAPI, Drum and Lyre Corps has grown and continues
to grow as an entertainment medium, musical sport and most importantly,
as one of the best educational youth activities in the Philippines.
