FILBERT STREET

Alan Birchenall has been Leicester City's Public Relations man since 1983 and was born in London but raised in Nottingham, started his playing career as a striker, achieving 4 England Under 23 caps while at Bramall Lane. He was Dave Sexton's first major buy at Chelsea. Jimmy Bloomfield eventually broughta him to Leicester.

Again inclining to the travelling life, Alan then carried both his boots and his ever-ready smile around the NASL and the lower leagues for a while, before returning to Filbert Street. Almost ever since, he's been attempting to rewrite his own substantial legend with his 'Geriatric Megastars', the charity-supporting team of former City favourites.

Just recently The Birch discovered that his friend and former City teammate Keith Weller is suffering with a form of Cancer. To aid Keith in his struggle Alan and Leicester City Formed a fund called "The Keith Weller Appeal". With the help of the Foxes Trust, City supporters and many others Alan helped to raise and grand total of: £37,734.13.
