The Review 7/10
So this time we decide to stay in and simply order, by phone, a nice Chinese takeaway. There are a few to choose from, all of which we will review. Tonight we opted to ring High Park chip shop on Bispham road.
After hearing that it would take 45 minutes we prepared our stomachs, by adding the compulsory layer of alcohol, for a promising meal.
About 35 minutes past before we heard the sound of a car pulling up outside , then someone getting out and walking to the door, which meant our tea had arrived.
We paid and gave a £1 tip. Then we took our 1 white bag into the kitchen and started to dish out the food. Everything looked ok, although the chips looked well cooked. The fritters, which come in a syrup sauce, didn't make the journey as well as the rest. The paper they were wrapped in had all the syrup sauce on it, instead of on the fritters. Try as we could there was no way we could get any of the sauce onto our fritters. My friend tried rubbing his fritter on the paper to collect any excess, with no success.
After coming to terms with the loss of our golden syrup, we finished piling the food on the plate and, along with our beers, sat down to dine.
So what was it like. Well the duck, along with the 8 pancakes, salad and sauce looked and tasted great. This item alone cost £5 and for that you get leg of duck. Comparing it directly to a restaurant you save about a third of the price, the taste is not as good and you don't get as much duck.
The Sweat & sour chicken, £3.60 + 45p extra for fried rice instead of boiled, was good and there was plenty of chicken. The chicken ball count gave us 9 pieces. Some place's you get 6, so 9 is pretty high. The batter on the chicken stayed on too. Within the stuff that is the sauce was plenty of onion and pineapple.
The chips are cooked and more than likely re-heated to give them a well done look. The taste is nice, they are cooking them in fat used for other food and this gives the chips a nicer, seasoned, taste.
The pineapple fritters where very nice, although the syrup had made its way out of the tray during it delivery.
The tip : A busy chip shop, that needs to improve it's chips (take care of the syrup)
Full Factor 8/10 Quantity was there, quality wasn't!
