In 1870 Frank Maguire from nearby Glangevlin purchased the premises which at that time was two separate houses. He succeeded in getting his licence and began trading in everything from drink to drapery and groceries.
After Frank it was the turn of his nephew Eddy Maguire to take the reigns during which there were some busy times. During the "Fair Days" the village would be so busy that, rather than take their horses through the large crowds on the street to the stables they would be brought in the front door and through the building and out the back.
Frank, Eddy's oldest son (Hence the name, Frank Eddies) then took over.
During his time Frank Eddies was coal supplier to the area. The coal was taken by horse and cart from Belcoo Railway, measured and distributed throughout the country side.
During this time Frank Eddies also sold salt, tea and small groceries.
Now it's Gerry, Franks oldest son you'll find pulling the pints.
With so many great men gone before him Gerry is doing well to keep the high quality atmosphere, 'craic' and drink flowing freely.
