Projects

In 1997 clearing the area behind the walled garden began. The area was very overgrown with many rocks and much assorted rubbish all hidden under three feet of undergrowth. This took many hours and a tractor to clear before the area could even be seen.

On the 31st July 1997 some of the members and guests met at the new apiary which was officially opened with a glass of wine and strawberries and cream. This should now provide a nice and sheltered spot to develop a new apiary, and we the hope, a honey crop for the National Trust shop in the Shugborough grounds. A little honey was extracted and is now available in the Trust's shop.

During 1998 we took over the organisation of the existing apiary at Weston Park. The hives are being moved into an orchard and rotten bits being replaced. It is hoped to build up to twelve hives and eventually extract honey for the association.
