The role of professional and personal goals in instructional practice

My beliefs about what is worth knowing o I believe that the information taught in school, printed literature, knowledge gathered from life experiences, socialization, and most importantly, the ability to think are all imperative in order to produce well- rounded individuals. My personal philosophy o My educational philosophy incorporates bits and pieces of the following philosophical systems: Epistemology and Logic. My major philosophical orientation for teaching implements the Social Reconstructionism and Progressivism school of thought. My personal philosophy is influenced by the Humanist and Constructionist psychological orientation. Personal Beliefs Discussion It is obvious that personal beliefs are unique to each person based on their concepts and individual experiences shaped by his or her environment and genetic makeup. The major issue that I feel must have precedent over all is determining what my role as facilitator is in the classroom. After several hours of self reflection, I have come to the conclusion that my role is to teach the students necessary academic elements in my area of expertise that will eventually prepare students for college. It is imperative that I come across as a competent teacher who knows the subject being taught exceptionally well while inspiring a desire to learn that students can hold on to throughout their student days.
