Tattoo FAQ’s

Q: How painfull is a Tattoo?
A: Everyone has a different pain threshold, but it is a bit like Sunburn which has just been slapped - the outline being more painful than the shading generally.

Q: Do people ever faint?
A: Yes. Generally because they have worked themselves up into a state before they go for their Tattoo. Have something to eat, and no alcohol before your Tattoo, and relax.

Q: Can you cover up a bad Tattoo?
A: It depends. Tattoos can be re-worked, but each case is different. Talk to your local Tattoo artist.

Q: Can you Tattoo someone who has a skin disorder?
A: Again, it depends. If it is severe, probably not, but please go talk to your local Tattoo artist. Generally they are willing to advise and help you.

Q: How can I find out if I am allergic to the inks used?
A: With today’s technology, inks are very stable. However, everyone is different, and if you have a worry, your local Tattoo artist will talk to you, and if you wish, try a small test on a hidden patch of skin.

Q: My local Tattoo artist refused to Tattoo my face. Why?
A: Like me, he/she probably has areas they will not tattoo. A tattoo on your face may be fine when you are 19, but as you grow older, your perceptions will change, and your facial tattoo may be causing you problems in areas such as employment, relationships etc. Be sensible and think ahead.

Q: How can I be sure the equipment used on me is clean?
A: In my studio, I always build my guns in front of the customer, and at the end of the tattoo, BEFORE they move, I dismantle the guns, break the needles, dispose of them in the sharps container, and remove ALL ink caps used to the bin. They know that all equipment used cannot be used on anyone else, and that their inks, needles etc were not used before either. Ask your local artist to explain his procedures - clean artists have no problems with this. If in doubt - DON’T get a tattoo.

Q: I would love to be a Tattoo Artist - where can I buy the equipment?
A: Go try and get an apprenticeship with a Tattoo Artist. If you are lucky, you will be properly trained. If not - remember - tattooing looks easy - IT IS NOT!
