You just released your Greatest Hits
It has been some time since you were in the spotlight
You inspired a generation
Penetrating lyrics that delved deep into the soul
You put your reputation on the line
You were innovative and experimental
And we loved you for it
You helped us to understand ourselves
And to respect ourselves whatever our faults
You helped the lonely nights pass by
You gave us a reason to live
You helped us realise they we were not alone
That we all suffer in silence
Eventually the band had their artistic differences
And you started up you solo career
You did not quite hit the heights of before
Every now and then we had a glimpse of your genius
You always had sensitivity and insight
I guess the millions have all been spent
And you need a few more luxuries
So we will forgive you this slight indulgence
We still love your music
It reminds of when we were young and idealistic
