To Date all we know of certain about Peter Langton is that he married Catherine Boylan on 27th July 1858. The Witnesses were Laurance Scully and Maria Boylan. This pair were also the sponsors for Peter's first child Patt.

Peter and Catherine had at least 5 children between 1859 and 1866. and fortunately we have information regarding the births of their children. In some cases the names of sponsors are difficult to read:

Born on 22 May 1859 and died in 1824 aged 64 yrs. His sponsors were Laurance Scully and Maria Boylan.

Born in approx 1892 and died on 22-8-1973 aged 81 yrs.

Born in approx 1894 and died on 19-3-1973 . Peg married Paddy Fitz (d Jan 1990) They lived in Terenure. They had one daughter Carmel who married Tom Doyle Carmel died 13-2-1971. Tom still lives in Stillorgan. Click here to see their Family

Born in approx 1898 and died on 14-12-1968 aged 69 yrs. Nan married Jack O'Neill (1901- 2-5-1986). Their family Marty, Paddy, Nancy and Sean. Click here to see their Family

Born in approx 1899 and died on 20-6-1966 aged 67yrs. Sheila married John Gahan. Their family Kathleen, John V., and Betty. Click here to see their Family

Born in approx 1900 and died on 13-2-1971 aged 71 yrs. Honey lived in Cashel, near Portlaoise.

The following is a list of Langtons who appear in Ballyroan Church records with reference to Cashel or Cullenagh, and as yet have not been tied in with particular certainty

At the moment the earliest records we have of Langtons in Cullinagh Ballyroan is the Tithe Applotment Books, of 1824 which tell us that in that year, a Widow Langton paid taxes on 5 acres 3R and that a Patt Langton paid Tithes on 11 acres 1R. Owing to the continuation of names, this Patt could quite conceivably be the father of Peter who was married to Catherine Boylan (no. 1 below). Unfortunately we don't know if the widow Langton is Patt's mother or sister-in-law. Some relationship between them is very likely, as there are no other Langtons in the area
