Additional Interviews

Many the interviews used in this book were recorded between 1990 and 1992. This work was undertaken by FÁS trainees working for Derg Canal Developments. The interviews were recorded and typed by the following: Maura Nolan; Maura O’Brien; Marie Welford; Jacintha and Sharon O’Donovan; Esther Whelan; Noreen Darcy; Liam and Tony Mulcahy; Annemarie Ahern.

Sadly a number of those whose interviews appear in this book have long passed away. They knew their parish and took pride in telling about it. We are fortunate to have their views and impressions and for those of us who have been privileged to talk to them it is a great pleasure now to be able to repeat their words and recall their memories. Among the contributors who have died in recent years are:

Gerry Gough

Billy Mills

Anthony Rohan

Moria Riordan

Percy Lucas

John O’Connell
