![]()
The parish of Ballina / Boher, is situated in North Tipperary, bounded on the north by the River Shannon and Lough Derg. Up until now no comprehensive publication has explored the vast store of knowledge about this area. This book presents a collection of stories and histories of the parish over the past three to four hundred years, with a glimpse back to more remote times.
The key themes which it explores include: Ancient Townlands, Placenames and Places of Interest; Monuments and Antiquities; Churches and Graveyards; Surveys of The Seventeenth Century; Violence, Unrest Famine & War; Famous People; Pastimes, Games and Events; Enterprise and Business; Clergy and; Education.
Material is drawn from many sources with an emphasis on
accounts by the people of the parish (supported by more traditional documentary research). Thus we can truly consider this the story of the people of Ballina / Boher.![]()
