More than a birthday bang!
Recently it was Chiyaan Vikram's birthday and all the news dailies had Vikram's photographs and well wishes splashed all over. The actor has almost 10 films under his belt, to name a few, Samurai, Dhool, Jana, King, Vikatan, Autograh, University and Dhilipan. Apart from that he also bagged the Filmfare award for the second time for his performance in Kaasi. Vikram's steady and drastic rise in his career graph is giving the other top heroes cold feet. One of them got so disturbed on Vikram's birthay on seeing the number of movies our Kenny (Vikram's real name) boy was doing, that the entire shooting scheduled for the day was called off. After the success of Dhill directed by Dharani, he now teams up with his classmate-director once again in the film Dhool. Dharani who does not believe in grand launch functions started off with his shooting in a humble way and 'Dhool' is already on its swing. Vikram stars with Jothika and Reema Sen in 'Dhool'
Smooth Operator: Sneha
Though she made her debut in 'Ennavalle' it was the film 'Anandham' that really clicked for the little nymphet Sneha. When heroines being imported from Bollywood were dominating the Tamil film industry, she earned the appreciation of most of the people in the industry for being an actress from Tamil Nadu itself who finally knew to speak Tamil fluently. She bagged the role opposite Maddy in 'Parthale Paravasam'. She also did a commendable job in the comedy film 'Pammal K Sambhandham' opposite Abbas. Her earlier co-stars who enjoyed working with her would arrive early in the sets to have a chit-chat with her. But then things were going too perfect her way, so rumors started flying that she was arrogant and haughty in her work style. But Sneha was immediate to react to the situation, instead of being upset about the gossip flaring around; she found a 'plan B' to the situation. She has become a more reserved person. It was more of a strict cycle from the scene and back to the chair pattern, which she followed that earned her back the appreciation once again.
Sister Acts
It may be weirdly coincidental or purely accidental and you may also want to question if they are ardent fans of 'River Dance' but in the end you can't but notice the three sisters following a pattern in their steps. Simran had a soft corner for the dance choreographer, Raju Sundaram which is almost history now. Then it was Monal, the recently deceased actress who had a soft corner for Prasana also a dance master, the nephew of 'Dance Master' Kala. Now following the family tradition is Jothi Nawal, Simran's youngest sister who is making her debut into films in the Tamil movie 'Pop-Carn'. She plays the role of Simran's daughter. Jothi is busy being seen in and around Bombay with her boyfriend who, by now you should have probably guessed it right, is also a dance choreographer. The choice of the sisters leave us wondering what is that lures them to these men who go "1 2 3 ... 1 2 3" in a rhythm. Well, that is a choice they make..but while we are still talking about 'One Two Three' the other sister pair in the industry Nagma and Jothika are having a tiff over property settlements, a flat in the Mumbai city which both of them want for themselves. Obviously the count value of the flat should go more than 1 2 3 for Jothika to still hold on to the fight. The film 'One Two Three' which Jothika stars has all the three brothers Raju Sundaram, Prabhu Deva and Nagendra Prasad in the movie. All of them being dance choreographers. The movie is a remake of a comedy filled Marathi play in which three brothers where one of them is blind, the other is deaf and the other is dumb fall in love with the same girl. With no special taboo attached to the 'Dancing Kings' let's hope that these sisters set their limits within professional grounds.
All for a 'name sake'
Kollywood has it's own share of logic and way when it comes to naming their films which is beyond questioning. Either they believe in making things short and sweet or it is just inexplicable sentiments. Following the consecutive hits in a row, wherein the films had the minimum of two letters (in Tamil pronounciation) like "Se-thu", "Kaa-si", "Dhi-il" turning out to be box office hits, now a tug of war is going on for the film name "Aa-dhi" to get it registered for their banner. Dr.Rajasekar from the Telugu Cinema world, Oscar Films Ravichandran of 'Roja Koottam' and Seyaaru Ravi are doing the best to get the name registered for their next film. This is not the first time there has been issues for movie names registered for future projects, be it the long lost controversy of "Thamizh" and "Thamizhan" or Ajith's next upcoming movie "Raja".
