Star Interviews

Abbas Tamil Telugu Actor InterviewHe made his debut in Prema Desam (Kadhal Desam) with Vineet and now the duo paired up again for Nee Premakai, a romantic comedy. From playing the rich guy who was willing to sacrifice his love for friendship then, to now playing the cute-contender who would pull every trick in and out of the book to get his love. An interview with Abbas on Nee Premakai.

Q: How was it teaming up with Vineet after your very first assignment in which both of you worked together?

Abbas: Well to be truthful it was fun since we both share a wonderful rapport and are good friends from Prema Desam days. When I heard the script and was told that Vineeth would be playing the other part it was as like replaying those initial days of my first film with him. He is one of the finest actor's to work with. We both had given a huge hit with Prema Desam in all languages. So that was, I guess, a plus point for the film building up the curiosity among the audiences with Nee Premakai.

Q: Where you apprehensive about the fact that people will get to judge Nee Premakai also along the lines of Prema Desam?

Abbas: I was initially, but as the film progressed I knew that this was a crowd puller but once the audiences were inside they were in for a surprise as the casting for Nee Premakai was perfect. No comparisons between Prema Desam and Nee Premakai they are both different in their ways.

Q: Though Nee Premakai was a two-hero subject, you stole the show mostly playing the role of a humorous negative shady character "a cute contender"? Were you O.K with the negative tinge in the role? Not many heroes would have said a 'yes' to it?

Abbas: It is a two-hero subject no doubt; off lately I have opted out of doing two-hero subjects (of same age group). What excited me in this script was that my character was not of a goody chocolate lover boy but of a street smart person since I had never played a character like this before I wanted to try using subtle gestures since the character I play charms his way through each obstacle that lay in his path. Yes it has a tinge of negative shade in it but chalked out very humorously. I have always believed in doing roles that excite me more than playing the same roles over and over again. The griping part of the movie is the where the two heroes try to out do one another in their own way in getting the heroine, it was fun I tell you.

Q: Which is more easier? Romance or comedy?

Abbas: I think both are difficult as when doing romance scenes one has to be in that state of mind where everything around him is beautiful sometimes you might be really low and are asked to do a romantic scene at times you are not able to justify the true sense of feelings required for the scene blame it on the selfish actors to hoard up more films in their pipe line or the unprofessional ways of our industry. I have always wanted to do comedy that doesn't mean that it is easy, but it is fun as you can dig up old or come up with new pranks for the screen. It does require to have good timing and for that you need good artistes opposite you, a director who can guide you with all this. It is fun and I have been this mischievous brat all my life so I enjoyed it.

Q: You seem to have had an accurate sense of timing in your humorous role in Nee Premakai? Do you attribute that to you basically being a fun-loving person?

Abbas: Yes you can say that again I am fun loving not that I like to boast but coz I love having fun and loving people in life that makes me...you are right.

Q: How was it working with Kamal Hassan in Bramachari[Telugu] (Pammal K Sambantham in Tamil)?

Abbas: Working with Mr. Kamal Hasan was intriguing as it was the second time I got the opportunity to work with the legend first in Hey Ram, Bramachari where I was exposed to comedy live which was spontaneous. It's a pleasure to see him work you get to learn so much. It was great to work with fine actors such as Mr. Kamal Hasan. Thank you for the opportunity sir.

Q: Do you feel you working in the comedy film Bramachari groomed you more for Nee Premakai or was it vice versa?

Abbas: Yes it did, but I've always had a liking towards comedy so what you see in Nee Premakai is an original as I don't like to imitate other actors I believe in the best and that is by being original.

Q: What are the other regional films you are doing right now?

Abbas: Right now I am working on Kadhaal Virus directed by Kathir, music by A.R. Rehman, Maanasthan directed by Bharti and Lovers these are in Tamil and Telugu. I will be working with Dr. D. Rama Naidu starting shortly.

Q: Right now, this moment, would you say you are a happy go lucky guy who is content with the way things are going in your life professionally and personally?

Abbas: I would be lying if I said no. Yes, I am very happy as I am getting to do roles, which I want, and I believe in myself doing better roles as days come by. I'm happy as doing good work makes me and others happy and finding happiness is the greatest gift one gets in this troubled life of our's I've found it both professionally and personally I hope you all find it too. I would like to thank all my fans for their sincere support and trust. May God fill your heart with love. Visit me @ www.actorabbas.com - MY OFFICIAL SITE. THANKS, LOVE ABBAS
