This sober
yet very romantic raga should be performed late at night. One facet of
Indian Classical music and a supreme test of musicianship is the ability
to combine melodic features from two ragas to evolve a third. In this
recording Kiranpal combines two parent ragas Malkauns and Darbari to
create Kaunsi Kanhra with the assurance and virtuosity expected from a
master.

It
is not very often you listen to a classical artist, who with the blessings
of the Guru, have learned from great masters and possesses a voice capable
of exploring all 3 octaves, without sacrificing the essence of the raag.
Bhai Satnaam Singh Ji, who learned from the Pandit Mani Parshad Ji, with
his dedication have achieved a well respected place amongst the classical
explorers of gurmat sangeet.
Prof
Tarsem Singh gave an excellent accompaniment on tabla. He learned from
world famous Ustad Alla Rakha and Zakir Hussian, and have played in many

Singh Ji was born in Amrasar Kalan, a village near Sri Jeewan Nagar,
Haryana. He is from a humble background and from the very beginning had
a passion for Namdhari history. He writes poetry and has a melodious
voice. He started reciting poetry in his school days and impressed his
tutors and peers. His talent was spotted by Jathedar Ikbal Singh Ji, and
under his guidance learned the finer points of poetry and its
presentation. He also accompanied the great Kavishar Jeewan Singh Ji
(his idol) on many occasions. He accompanied
the illustrious
Namdhari
Hockey Team, home and abroad and looked after their well being and
