Until recently I have been working in the matrix circle at Arilinn
Tower(click on the image for more info).
Those of you who are unfamiliar with Darkover will
perhaps require some explanation. Many Darkovans possess telepathic abilities,
known as LARAN
. The different families of the Comyn have different abilities, and the
Syrtis gift is that of CATALYST TELEPATH, as explained in THE
HERITAGE OF HASTUR. However, this gift is less strong in the women of the
Syrtis line - although it has not died out, it seems to express itself more in
an empathy with Nature, an ability to make things grow.
So,although I went to Arilinn to undergo training as a
technician (because we believe that "an untrained telepath is a danger to
herself and all those around her") I have now returned to my home at Syrtis to
look after the orchard and garden.
This is Syrtis.
Syrtis is the center of Darkover's rose trade. Our roses
are famed throughout the Galaxy. We supply the whole of Darkover, and we export
some to Terra in return for Terranan coffee.

We supply rose garlands for weddings, and we can also supply dried rose
petals, rose pot pourri, and rose water - here's an example of some of the
products we supply.
