Most unusual for a resort in Menorca S'Algar lacks a good beach. The nearest thing here is a narrow strip of imported sand in front of the hotel S'Algar, other than that it's a 15 minute stroll to the cove at Cala Alcaufar.

What attracts people to this resort is possibly the best sporting facilities on the island. With a choice of either windsurfing, tennis, and horse-riding at the Club Hipic Es Beoret, there's usually plenty to do. Quite strange for Menorca, S’Algar also has seven lawn bowling greens and a number of places where you can hire woods.

A short distance inland takes you to the village of San Lluis, here you will find the Aero Club and Hippodrome. The facilities on site include a bar/restaurant, a karting track and leisure flights around the island. The Hippodrome next door has horse trotting races at the weekend.

San Lluis is home to one of the best nightclubs on the island called Luna, which is very popular with the young people from Mahon, and another disco bar called Colors which is open from midnight to 3am during the summer months.

Finally, the San Lluis fiesta also takes place during the last week in August every year.
