My
flatmate Alan Hill is the owner of Over
The Hill Motor Company, which specialises in maintenance
& restoration of Morris Minors. Handy huh? Well, nearly
everyday he comes home in a different Minor. "Alan's Daily
Driver" is a pic of what's parked outside our house. Expect
it to change regularly!

Not
one or two but FOUR Minors parked outside our place tonight!
OK,
so two of them were already there and a third was the customer's
second car but you get the idea. The owners had turned up to
pick up their Series II four-door which had been in for a boil-over
problem. It turns out that the block was cracked after a severe
freeze which not only popped the freeze plugs out of the block
but also cracked the thermostat housing. Alan replaced the engine
and it now runs sweet as ever :)
Tip!
Whilst talking to the owner he let us in on a tip that on old
BMC mechanic used one day to cure a small water leak. The 'service'
station didn't have any Rad-Weld (radiator stop-leak)
and the local shop was all out of raw eggs so our mechanic friend
used another organic stop-leak .... mustard! A small pot of
mild English mustard was purchased and spooned into the radiator.
Within 5 miles of running the leak stopped and the Minor made
it the 75 miles home without a problem. I can't be sure but
I assume whole-grain mustard is probably not a good idea
:)
