Andi
Kyle took an innocent 1972 van and turned it into the blue
beast you see here.
It
now sports a split windscreen, Porsche 911 headlamps, Lancia
HF turbo engine, Toyota Celica rear axle mounted on coil overs
with 5-bar location. There's 7.5"x16" rear wheels,
and 6"x14" fronts. He has even used guages from
the Lancia in a totally new dashboard.
One
of the nicest features is the not-very-practical-but-really-cool
suicide doors; that is, the front doors hinge from the rear
instead of the front. I suppose they're called suicide doors
because it'd be easy to open them up and leap out whilst on
the move. Either that or it's because the doors themselves
commit suicide if they come open at speed. Either way it's
great to see some classic Hot Rod features being used on the
Minor.
Also
note the nicely rounded off rear end of the van and the flared
rear guards.
Andi
was going to make an appearance at the Darley Moor racetrack
for the filiming of the BBC Top Gear TV programme, but the
engine ran a bearing on the way there. Tough luck Andi! Hopefully
you'll be back on the road real soon.
