Day '99
British Motor Heritage Museum
Gaydon, Warwickshire, UK
19
September 1999
It
rained.
It rained before we left home, and it rained on the way there.
It kindly reduced to a drizzle for a few minutes whilst I took
some pictures of the 100 or so Minors in the carpark. But it
wasn't long before the rain was back with a vengeance.
Drivers
sheltered from the downpour in either the Motor Museum or in
the MMOC marquee. We chose the latter. Joe Swords from Minor
Monthly was there, as well as a model stand, a small parts stand
and the MMOC regalia stand. We did the usual and spent far too
much on models and books and finally gave up on waiting for
the rain to slow down. A quick swim back to our convertible,
Bessie, and we were on our way back home.
Two
hundred miles and 4 hours of driving in torrential rain, including
15 miles of traffic jam, all for 45 minutes of looking at Morris
Minors, Oxfords and Marinas from the doorway of a tent. Was
it worth it? Of course it was!
