Brooklands Museum
Morris and Austin Day
Valentine's Day, 14 February, 1999
Last
year was great, and I fully expected a repeat performance
of the fine warm weather we had, but I was sadly disappointed.
It was a COLD, COLD day this year! The day dawned fine and
sunny, but with only a chilly 5 or 6 degrees Celcius forecast.
We had had a strong frost and the cars were well covered in
ice. But the cloudless sky soon turned to grey and I even
saw bits of snow and sleet coming down.
At
Brooklands, the sleet held off but the occasional light shower
of rain and a very biting breeze made the pleasure of seeing
a couple of hundred Morrises and Austins together at the home
of British motor racing a bit less pleasurable than it could
have been. Nevertheless, everyone seened in good spirit and
happy to wander around amongst all the great cars. There were
only about 4 trade stands, including Minor Monthly magazine
and a model trader.
