National Rally '99
This
year's rally was held at Hawkstone Park in Shropshire, mid-west England.
The park is a great natural setting with lots of trees, cliff faces and
caves, the rally being held in a valley in the middle of the park. With
trees either side of the valley it made a great venue for the car display
but restricting the space available for the trade stands.
But this
didn't stop the weather from treating us to a mixture of glorious sunshine,
warm overcast skies and the occasional downpour of rain, but thankfully
usually at night. The camp site was quickly filled leaving those late arrivals
to fend for themselves even though they had paid for an on-site spot including
us! Luckily we are on good terms with Jonathon Heap from JLH Minor Restorations
so we were able to pitch our tent at the back of his trade stand pitch.
The range
of trading stands went from enthusiasts clearing out their garages of years
of accumulated 'rubbish' to the commercial enterprises of the Minor specialists
selling everything from gearbox steady cables to full coil-over front suspension
setups.
