Hi! My name is Peter, the one with the beard in the photograph. The one without a beard is Cathey, my wife. I am a primary school teacher and a few years ago I collected one or two bits and pieces about the "Home Front" to take into the classroom when teaching the KS2 history topic "Britain since 1930". Teachers should note that this topic has now been replaced by two QCA units: Unit 9 "What was it like for children in the Second World War?"; Unit 13 "How has life in Britain changed since 1948?". My bits and pieces are now a 600+ collection of ephemera, memorabilia and artefacts.
I no longer feel satisfied to share these items, and my knowledge, with just the children in my school so I have created "The Midnight Watch" to reach a larger audience.
I am now an avid collector and my interest has become an obsession!
Please do take a look at what is available, I am constantly updating and adding to the site.
How the civilian population of Britain lived during the Second World War, 1939-1945.
My collection of 'bits and bobs'.
