This site is dedicated to the 60 595 men, women and children who lost their lives in Britain during the Second World War (1939-1945) on the Home Front, and to the countless numbers who served in a Civil Defence role during that conflict.

It takes its name from a wall sheet issued to the Fire Guard and Civil Defence workers at the time. It is not intended to glorify or justify that conflict, but to record and reflect the spirit of those times.

It will cover a number of aspects of the Home Front during World War 2 including: Air Raid Precautions (ARP) and Civil Defence (CD); the Home Guard (HG); the Auxiliary Fire Service (AFS) and National Fire Service (NFS) and the role of civilians as Fire Watchers in the Fire Guard during and after the Blitz.
