[ Games | Monster | Battle | Character | Guides | Face ] This section will try to help you guys with making gfx in Paint Shop Pro and some basic help with Rpg Maker. [ Character Sets - Rpg Maker ]
Here is how to make a character sets first thing to do is to download my Templates.zip as these will help you allot I use them all the time. Next open the character sets template in paint shop. Now you should have some idea what you set should look like so find a character set in your rtp folder or elsewhere that most resembles the character you want to make and open it in paint shop.
ok as you can see above everything is ready for me to start working on dende im using my krillin set as a template I have used the crop tool highlighted in red to cut him out of the original set now this sets will have to be edited to look like dende but you do not have to make all the images most of the images can be mirrored the below image shows all the images that you do not have to make simply copy and paste press (Ctrl+M) to mirror and set in place.
ok now just edit the character to look like how you would like him to look I like to start off with the front view. After finishing the head make a box around the head down to the bottom of the chin and copy it and paste the head onto both the other body's.
Next edit the middle images body to look like your character then edit the body on the left next make a box around the body from the bottom of the chin to the feet and copy it then paste it and mirror it next set the body perfectly over the body to the right.
Now you have a front view finished if you have the image saved in one of your project folders you can preview the set in rm2k to make sure it looks right just open rm2k and load the set.
Use the same method when make the back view to the character. When making the side view just make the middle head and copy it to the other side view body's and make all three walking images to the side view and when it is finished copy the whole side view to the other side view image be sure to mirror the image now your set is finished.
Now set your background color to the same color used on your
set a quick way to do this is to hold down Ctrl and right click on the
background color and copy the whole image and paste as transparent selection
onto your template set the image into place the feet on the middle set should be
touching the bottom line of its box that's how I like it now is a bit of a
tricky bit getting the background color transparent first use the color replacer
tool
The first color on palette edit is normally black so the next step is to change the first color over with your background color just double click on the color you want to change and set it to another color a helpful tip is to zoom into your image before going into the palette edit because you can click on your image in the background when changing the color now when you have done this click ok your set will look really messed up right now but don't worry that's normal now save the palette (colors>save palette) and save it anywhere now when you go back to you image undo the last changes (Ctrl+Z) all the colors should go back to normal now load the palette you just saved (colors>load palette) when loading the palette make sure the option nearest color matching is set and load the palette now your background color should be the first color in the palette and it will show up transparent in rm2k that's about all I can help you just remember one thing zoom in when editing your set it helps alot.
