GORDON BANKS, Goalkeeper Tallest (6 ft. Oi in.), and heaviest (13 st. 5 Ib.) player in the side.  Leicester's only full international.  Present England goalkeeper.  Cost £4,000 from Chesterfield four seasons ago.  Agile, magnificent handler, especially of the ball to the far post.  Around Leicester they claim Banks is even safer than the Bank of England.  Born in Sheffield.  Played in the 1961 Cup Final against Spurs.

JOHN SJOBERG, Right Back Despite the Scandinavian surname he is a Scot, born in Aberdeen.  Brilliant recruit from junior football.  Only established regular place in the side last Boxing Day.  Tenacious tackier, reliable, especially in the air.  Former centre half.  Of Swedish extraction, now qualifying as an accountant. Height 5 ft. II in., weight II st. 6 Ib.

RICHIE NORMAN, Left Back Another of the 1961 Final side. Born in Lemington-on-Tyne, yet another skilful product of the soccer-soaked North-East.  Came from Holden Colliery in 1958.  Made around 160 appearances for Leicester.  "Reads "every match astutely.  Height 5 ft. lOi in., weight 11 st. 7 Ib.

FRANK McLINTOCK, Right Half Scottish Under-23 international.  Glasgow-born and signed from the ever-talented Shawfield Juniors club in 1957.  Best example of attacking wing-half play in England.  In reality an inside-forward in the No. 4 jersey. Height 5 ft. 11 in., weight II st. 4 Ib. Indefatigable worker with a penetrating eye for setting up lightning attacks.

IAN KING, Centre Half Edinburgh-born, unspectacular, but highly efficient. His crisp distribution is a vital feature of Leicester's clever, mobile game.  Came to Filbert St. in 1956 from Scottish junior football.  Kept his place despite strong opposition from England Under-23 centre half Tony Knapp, later sold to Southampton. Height 5 ft. Iig in-, weight 12 st. 4 Ib.

COLIN APPLETON, Left Half (Captain) Longest-serving player.  He joined Leicester from Scarborough in 195,4.  On the fringe of England honours.  A driving, 90-minute skipper; also a careful thinker with a quick tackle.  Completes the same Leicester half-back line as faced Spurs here two years ago.  Height 5 ft. 9 in., weight 11 st.II Ib.

HOWARD RILEY, Outside Right England Under-23 international. A fast, direct, dangerous winger whose hard, high crosses have created many golden chances for his fellow forwards this season.  One of only two " locals " in the side.  Signed professional in 1955.  Qualified as a teacher.  Height 5 ft. 7 in,, weight 11 st. 3 Ib.

GRAHAM CROSS, Inside Right At 19 the " babe " of the side. Popular playing discovery of the season. A local lad, natural sportsman, now a promising batsman with Leicestershire.  England Under-23 right half.  Plays in that position mostly, switching fast and fluently with McLintock.  A six-footer who weighs 12 st. 7 Ib.  As fit as any player in the land.  Came into the side regularly only this season.

KEN KEYWORTH, Centre Forward Signed six years ago from Rotherham for £8,000 as a wing-half. Played inside left in the 1961 Cup Final.  A vastly underrated centre forward and clever ball player.  The side's leading scorer. Notched four Cup goals. A typical example of the supreme versatility running through the team. A six-footer who weighs 12 st. 4 Ib.

DAVIE GIBSON, Inside Left Brilliant, bow-legged Scot who cost £25,000 from Hibernian in January, 1962.  A really talented ball player, accurate forward " general " of the side, switches play with baffling speed.  Certain to have a long international career with Scotland. Three Cup goals so far. Modest, likeable young man. Height 5 ft. 7 in., weight 10 st. 10 Ib.

MIKE STRINGFELLOW, Outside Left The second big-money signing by Leicester who paid Mansfield Town £25,000 for him in the same week as they purchased Gibson.  A tall (5 ft. II in.) winger who strides all over the field daringly. Headed home the vital goals against Norwich and Liverpool in earlier rounds. Leicester will readily pay Mansfield Town a further £2,500 transfer fee when Mike becomes an England player.
