TOMMY LAWRENCE, Goalkeeper Though born in Ayrshire, Lawrence was brought up in Lancashire and joined Liverpool's ground staff when 16, signing as a professional in 1957. Did not make his League debut until five years later, but has since been a regular choice and has played for Scotland in Under-23 and full international matches. Height: 5 ft. 11 in. Weight 13 st. 4 Ib.

CHRIS LAWLER, Right Back A former Schoolboy and Youth International, Lawler made his senior debut in March 1963, but prior to this season had played in only twelve first-team games, mainly at centre half, his original position'. Was switched to right back early this season, and has once made rapid strides. A cool and methodical player, Is a native of Liverpool.  A shade under six feet, weight II st. II Ib.

GERRY BYRNE, Left Back Another Liverpool-born player, Byrne has been with the Merseyside club since leaving school. He made his League debut in 1957, at the age of 19, but did not come into the team regularly until three seasons later.  Has played for England at Under-23 level and in one full international—against Scotland at Wembley in 1963. As a boy he had no ambition to take up Soccer as a profession but has never regretted changing his mind. Stands 5 ft. 10 ft. and weighs 12 st. 6 Ib.

GORDON MILNE, Right Half  The son of Jimmy Milne, Preston- North End's manager, Gordon joined Liverpool from the Deepdale club in September 1960. He was not an immediate success, but once he had settled down he made rapid strides, and has now played for England in fourteen full internationals. Including 81 outings for Preston, is on the verge of 250 League appearances during his career.  Height: 5 ft. 1 in. Weight: llst.31b.

RON YEATS, Centre Half (Captain)  Yeats joined the Merseysiders from Dundee United in the summer of 1961, and has never been out of the team since except when injured. A massive figure, with seemingly " telescopic " legs which enable him to drag the ball back from forwards who think they have passed him, Yeats commands the penalty box in dominant fashion, and is rarely beaten in the air—or on the ground for that matter. Commanding figure, weighs 14 st. 2 Ib. and is 6 ft. 2 in.

BILL STEVENSON, Left Half  Another Scot, born at Leith, Stevenson played several times for Scotland's schoolboy team, then for Edina Hearts and Dalkeith Thistle before joining Glasgow Rangers at the age of 17. Won a Cup and championship medal with Rangers, then emigrated to Australia in 1962, but came back a few months later and joined Liverpool in October that year. Height: 5 ft. II in. and weighs II st. 13 Ib.

IAN CALLAGHAN, Outside Right  Another Liverpool-born player, Callaghan joined the Anfield club on leaving school, signed his first professional form in March 1960, and made his League debut the following month, after only four games in the Central League team. Though on the small side and lightly built, is a courageous and determined player. Height: 5 ft. 7 in. Weight: 10 st. II Ib.

ROGER HUNT, Inside Right  Signed his first professional form in 1959, and made his League debut in September that year, after only five games in the Central League team. Has since developed into a prolific scorer, having recently registered his 150th goal in League games (220 appearances), as well as many in Cup-ties.  Holds the club's all-time seasonal scoring record with 41 goals in 1961-62 in Second Division matches.  Has played for England at Under-23 level and in five full internationals.  Height: 5 ft. 9 in.  Weight: II st. 10 Ib.

IAN ST. JOHN, Centre Forward  Started his professional career with Motherwell, his native town, and joined Liverpool in May 1961, scoring three goals against Everton in a Liverpool Senior Cup final a few days later. A very talented ball player, is Liverpool's main schemer and provider, a man who can split an opposing defence in a twinkling with his slide-rule passes. Played his 150th League game for Liverpool recently, and made his 21st appearance for Scotland at Wembley last month. Has also played for the Llnder-23 team and the Scottish League eleven. Height: 5 ft. 8 in. Weight: 11 st. 13 Ib.

TOMMY SMITH, Inside Left  Another Liverpool-born player and a former Liverpool Schoolboy star. Smith has made remarkably rapid strides this season. Previously he had had only one senior game, in May 1963, and when the current campaign began was only third choice for the seniors. After four games last September he dropped out for three months, but since being recalled in December has justified himself splendidly. Often plays a " backward " role, filling in when Milne switches to attack. Has a very strong shot. Height: 5 ft. 1(H m- Weight: 13 st. 5 Ib.

PETER THOMPSON, Outside Left  Starting his career with Preston North End, Carlisle-born Thompson made his League debut in September 1960, filling every position in their attack that winter. Was transferred to Liverpool at a club-record fee in August 1963, and has been worth every penny of it. Has played for England at Under-23 level and in eleven full internationals, and has missed only two League games—one for each club— since making his debut for Preston. Height: 5 ft. 8 in. Weight: II st. 6 Ib.
