Player profiles  out of the Wembley Match Day Programme

HARRY DOWD. His was a tough task, having to follow the great Bert Trautmann, who kept goal in City's 1955 and 1956 Cup Finals, but he took it in his stride and has reclaimed the place this season from KenMillhearn. A local discovery, he graduated through the junior sides, making his senior debut in December 1961. Once a plumber, he plugs any holes his defence may leave. Born Manchester.  5 ft. 9i in.  11 St. 3 Ib.

TONY BOOK (Captain). After injury earlier this season, he skippers City at Wembley at the age of 34. Has had a long and successful association with assistant-manager Malcolm Allison. Began his career with Bath City, under Allison's management and followed him to Plymouth Argyle, where he embarked on a League career at the advanced age of 28. Signed for City at £17,000 fee in July 1966, and was ever-present captain in last season's League Championship success. Born Bath.  5 ft. 11 in.  11st. 2 Ib.

GLYN PARDOE. When he made his League debut at the age of 15 in April 1962 he became the youngest player ever seen in the City side. A strong, uncompromising full-back, he is a former England schoolboy international and gained Under-23 honours against Hungary last May. Originally a centre-forward, he is a cousin of City half-back Alan Oakes. Born Winsford.  5 ft. 9i in.  12st.

MIKE DOYLE. Became a regular last season, when he played 37 League games, and is now well established as a skilful midfield man with a powerful shot. An England Under-23 choice last season (four appearances), he came up through City's youth side, signing professional four years ago and making his senior debut in March 1965. Born Manchester.  5 ft. 11 in.  11st.13lb.

TOMMY BOOTH. What a season for this 19-year-old I An "unknown" when it started, he made his debut in October and finishes the campaign at Wembley after scoring the last minute semi-final winner against Everton. Manager Joe Mercer describes him as "the best footballing centre-half I have seen since Stan Cullis." That's high praise and Booth has certainly lived up to it in his first season. Signed for City from school, turning professional in the 1967 summer. Born Manchester.  6 ft. 1 in.  11 St. 12 Ib.

ALAN OAKES. Surprise name in the England training squad last month mainly because it was as long ago as November 1959 that he made his League debut after skippering City's youth side. Developed into a commanding midfield man with a flair for attack that has produced many vital goals. Now approaching his 400th senior appearance for his only club. Began as an inside-forward but now wears the No. 6 shirt. Born Winsford.  5 ft. 11 i in.  13 St.

MIKE SUMMERBEE. Grew up, soccer-wise, with Swindon Town (debut fort hem in December 1959) and cost £30,000 when transferred in August 1965. Originally a right-winger, he was switched to centre-forward by City and won three England caps last season as well as a Championship medal. Back on the wing in their Final run to Wembley, with Lee in the middle. Born Preston.  5 ft. 11 in.  12 St. 3 Ib.

COLIN BELL. Began with Bury, for whom he made his League debut against Manchester City in February 1964. Moved to Maine Road in March 1966 at a £45,000 fee and, having gained four England caps (besides two for the Under-23 side) in the past 14 months, he obviously figures in Sir Alf Ramsey's 1970 World Cup plans. As goal-maker and scorer, he is the complete inside-forward. Born Hesleden.  5 ft. 11 i in.  11st. 4 Ib.

FRANCIS LEE. Has become a scintillating striker since joining City from Bolton in a £60,000 deal in October 1967. With 16 goals, he played an important part in City's League Championship last season. Scored a magnificent goal against Prance here last month on his second England appearance. Joined Bolton from school and signed professional for them in 1960. Born Bolton.  5 ft. 7 in.  list. 5 Ib.

NEIL YOUNG. Another of City's slick strikers, he was top scorer with 19 goals in last season's League Championship. Signed professional from the Youth side in 1961, and made his senior debut the following November. In a career of nearly 300 senior games, he has filled every forward position and is another of the many loyal one-club men at Maine Road. Born Manchester.  6 ft. 1 in.  12 st. 6 Ib.
