After the team has been formed and brought together, it will become increasingly important for the group to establish a team identity. This avenue can be facilitated by looking at the many reasons for the team members to cooperate and make the project a success. These include; personnel rewards, self gratification, recognized by your peers, participating in a sporting event, having a fun day in the sun away from work, winning prizes, free food and drink, socializing with your co-workers and building team spirit and a positive work environment. Some people many not be one-hundred percent behind the project and choose to resist or not participate. Some of their reasons may include the following; do not see eye-to-eye with the project manager, funds could be used for a more family-friendly event like a day at the beach, not everyone feels comfortable playing golf, some people might not be so 'athletically' inclined and are afraid to embarrass themselves in front of co-workers and other commitments such as pre-planned vacations. Not only that, it could rain.
