Kerman is located in the southeastern Iran, 1064 kms from Tehran and
covers an area of 180,000sq.kms. Kerman is bounded on the north by
Yazd and Khorasan, on the east by
Sistan & Baluchestan, on the south by
Hormozegan and on
the west by Fars. The central and western areas, being mountainous, are cold in
winter and mild in summer. The western and eastern parts containing vast area of
desert have long hot summers and short mild winters. The lut Desert, lying north
of the province, plays a significant role in the climate. Being a city of great
antiquity, it was the national capitals in different periods.there are a number
of monuments dating back to the Sassanian era, the Ardeshir castle and Dokhtar
castle are notable among them. The old architecture of Kerman, the important
features of which has high walls, of narrow alleys and the domed roofs are of
considerable importance.
Agriculture has been the main economic activity in Kerman from
the distant past, dates produced are of the highest quality as well as Pistachio
the being second important export of Iran.
History
The history of the people of this province goes to 4000 BC, which turns the
region into a historical site as a whole.During its long history, a valuable
collection of historical and cultural heritage have been gathered there, which
constitutes a valuable part of the Persian Civilization and deserves attention
of tourists. Every historical space in today Kerman reveals a part of the people
history, their ways of living, their local governments and structure of local
communities.
ARG- e -BAM
is on a hill in the vicinity of the city, being one of the world wonders
covering an area of 6sq.kms; it is the greatest mud-brick construction in the
world. Surrounded by lofty walls and towers and a moat, it includes a great
number of houses encircling the seat of the ruler, which stand in the center.
Arg-e Bam is one of the most important tourist attractions in Iran. A complex
called new arg has been recently built 8kms east of the ancient Arg.Recreational
facilities such as swimming pools, sports field and a manage on the one hand,
easy access to the airport of Bam and suitable hotel accommodation on the other,
make it a point of great attractions for tourists.
Ganj Ali Khan Bath Complex, which includes a school, bath,
caravansary, market, water reservoir and square was
built by Ganj Ali Khan. The complex is unique for its architecture and tile
work.
Ganj Ali Khan's bath is located in the southern part of Kerman and was in use
until half a century back. An exquisite blend of art and architecture, this
building has a staggered entrance which opens into six spacious apses.
True-to-life wax figures bring back the memory of every day scenes from the
past. All garments and exhibited objects are period pieces: razors, phials for
rose perfumes and long-stemmed pipes to be enjoyed after the bath. Sunlight
pours in from the roof overhead, creating superb light effects.

Ganj Ali Khan Bath
is a tiny impressive town, 42 kms north-east of Kerman, which is probably
founded in the Sassanian period. Located on the slope of the mountains of Jupar,
it enjoys a pleasant mild climate.The Spectacular natural sights and the
mausoleum of Shah Ne’matollah-e-Vali, the renowned Iranian mystic and poet, make
it a point of interest. the huge dome and lofty minarets covered with
considerably impressive tile mosaic afford a very pleasing sight to the
building. Also, in Mahan worth a visit to lovely Shahzadeh Garden
with a collection of pools leading to a large palace (once was the summer
residence of a prince whom now is unknown). The palace is partly now converted
to a nice restaurant.

The Garden of Shazdeh, containing an eye catching building, old trees, streams and pools is indeed a sight to see.
