AEFA: February 2001 Meeting
Pictures
This months meeting again had a nice selection of models displayed by their
creators.
The first is a PT19 which was a ARF model. David made a number of
modifications following initial flights, including the adding of shear webs in
the main wings:

David said the model flew very well, with ample power. See the
AEFA February magazine for more details. Any way, it was a big and beautifully
finished model with landing gear. Not bad for $230, but I think he said that was
a special price.
Paul brought in his Thermal Raiser. This was a nice and cleanly
finished model, covered in OZ'Cover and then lightly sprayed for colouring. The
spray finish was very good, and I would not have thought it was painted if Paul
didn't mention it. I thought it was a pre-coloured film:

The model used a motor similar to the Speed 600 inline geared
version, ratio 2.8:1. I think the prop was a 11 x 8 Graupner folder, Jeti 50
ESC, and 1250cells. He said it had excellent climb abilities, 40-50 degree
angles. Weight was about 1200grams.

John brought in another of his well finished models, and this
time it was a Tucano. Extremely good detail and finish. The model used a Malcolm
Buckmaster modified Speed 480 (neodymium magnets and new windings), and produce
an incredible 300watts of power. John has not flown the model yet, but it should
have close to extreme performance:

This Speed 400 sized model will perform very well.
A little lacking on details on the following models and
builders, but you can catch up on the details in the AEFA February magazine:
