Holy Guidance
Hopefully God will guide me
Towards a higher place
I have been struggling down here for some time
I need some guidance
The years have passed me by
And I am feeling a little jaded
I still have belief
But it was never very strong
I keep hoping things will work out
But each day is a disappointment
I try to look on the bright side
But what if all your paths lead to nowhere
If there is no God then I am lost
With only myself left to try and find salvation
That prospect is so bleak that I am forced to believe
All my life has been a trial
And in the end I will be rewarded
All the knocks I have taken
Will only make me stronger and wiser
I still hope to bring up a family
And pass on my wisdom
Ensure that they don’t make the same mistakes
And guide them as best I can in the right direction
And the values I have learnt such as right and wrong
Will have me give advice
I may not always have live up to the standards I set
But I always strived to do my best
Life is a test of endurance
You probably don’t know how well you have done
Until you approach old age
When you can look back and assess your performance
Good or bad
And when you die
God will be there to pass his own judgement
And hopefully you will have justified your place
In the Kingdom of Heaven
