3 Inches Of Blood - "Advance And Vanquish"

There must surely come a time when we all stand up and say "OK, let's be honest, the Darkness are fucking great as we all know but isn't this whole old-skool metal revival getting a bit out of hand now?" This second album from Canadian shouters 3 Inches Of Blood could well be that final straw that broke the proverbial camel's back.

We first encountered this lot last summer with their debut album "Battlecry Under A Winter Sun" and it's fair to say that, as if you hadn't already guessed from the title, "Advance And Vanquish" is more of the same sub-Manowar lyrics about orcs and pirates etc and, if you're a 25-year-old "Dungeons & Dragons" loving bedsitter with a denim jacket then you'll probably be salivating already.

For the rest of us, it simply goes without saying that the Wildhearts, the Darkness and, more recently Viking Skull, do this sort of thing a lot better. Unless you're a very bored fan of one of the former three, you'd be better advised for saving your money for when something better comes along.
