Here, up on the clifftop hanging on for dear life with the wind whistling eerily past, is where we find Biffy Clyro in late 2004. One of the first bands to leap on the Brit-emo bandwagon just as the wheels started to come off, this year has seen a vicious cull in their genre with both Hundred Reasons and Hell Is For Heroes now label-less and the vanguard of the movement (Thisgirl, Yourcodenameismilo et al) falling apart ingloriously.
Sad to say that "Infinity Land" is unlikely to bring about a reversal in their fortunes - they've clearly decided to try and desperately paddle away from emo creek by adding some sub-Kurt grunge stylings to their work as evidenced upon tunes like "Wave Upon Wave" but, given that grunge wasn't exactly a genre to get your heart beating out of your chest either, it still sees them stuck in the same old cul-de-sac of "growly vocals, staccato guitars, lots of effort but very little in the way of memorable end product."
The fingernails slip...they can't hold on anymore...AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!
