The Vacation - "The Band From World War Zero"

Three years too late, the US leather jacket 'n' sneer brigade finally get it right. The smart odds here would've been on the Vacation being yet another bunch of one-paced, one-dimensional Strokes wannabes but at least with "Band From World War Zero", they've put out an album which comfortably eclipses "Room On Fire" (mind you, what doesn't?)

Veering between pure Star Spangles/New York Dolls style sleaze punk and more restrained mid-paced smoulderers, it's all good fun and well worth a look. They may be a bit late jumping on the wagon and it's doubtful they'll give Jack White too many sleepless nights but there's plenty of worse bands of this ilk out there. A promising debut.
